The Celebrities.

I bumped into her after the 40th wedding anniversary mass of the parents of one of our priests. I first met Chinenye Cynthia in 2000 when I did my pastoral year at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro Cathedral, Garki.

If you take a look at the picture, you will notice she has crutches. I can't remember the story, either polio or accident left Cynthia paralyzed. Right from the time I knew her, she always walked with crutches.

The unforgetable things about Cynthia are her smiles and laughter. Cynthia laughed alot and was( still is) a lively conversationalist( my respectful way of calling her a 'talkative'). Cynthia can talk for Africa, garnished with lots of hearty laughter.

She can also fight. Yes, her condition never made her shy away from confronting you head on when you pissed her off. She was not the type that wished for pity. You might be stronger than her because of her condition but you couldn't stand the energy of her words and expressions when pissed.

Long story short, I saw her today, screamed her name, rushed to hug her and as I was leaving she pointed to a handsome guy by the side and said: "this is my husband". I nearly froze out of utter disbelief but had a good reflex to act normal.

As if she hadn't injected enough surprise serum into me, she pointed to another fine looking teenager and said; "That's my first child". Mouth agape, I just stood there gushing at the whole beauty about her. Then her daughter and another son came at her beckoning.
It was at that moment I insisted on taking a picture with them and telling them I would write a piece about the encounter.

If I ruled the world, people like Cynthia and her husband would be the celebrities. The ordinary people defying lifelong challenges and still grateful for life would be our celebrities. Parents living and caring for autistic children and children with other similar conditions. Spouses putting up with bedridden partners out of love. Physically challenged people undaunted by their conditions, all these would be the celebrities.

Here's a toast to beautiful Cynthia and her lovely family, and to everyone out there making it work despite the difficulties.

This baby was born after just 6 months of pregnancy…
The mother died as the baby was brought out. The younger sister of the mother took charge of taking care of the baby.

However, after a few weeks, the child was diagnosed of a hole in the heart.
The baby needed blood transfusion every 2 weeks.
The new mom told the family she would like to take the child to the Glory Dome before seeking medical interventions such as surgery.

She did & also connected to Commanding The Day Midnight Prayers #CTDMP. Subsequently they took the child to the hospital to seek medical interventions such; however, upon examination of the baby, the hole had closed up. No more hole in the heart to the amazement of the doctors.

For weeks now, they’ve had no reason to go to the hospital for any blood transfusion.
