Ratan Tata's take on bribery resonates. During my service career I was offered bribes in kind - never in cash - eg medical seats for my kids and an all-expenses paid holiday abroad for my family. I was blessed that my kids and my family craved for nothing !
Every time I told a Minister who wanted to cut a deal, " I can't Sir. You and I will both go to jail," (knowing full well we wouldn't,) I left the room walking on air!
"आप के IAS मे होने का क्या फाईदा हुआ? " was asked of me over and over again even by well- wishers! Probably I was a fool but the reward I got, like Ratan Tata, was to sleep peacefully - far more precious than being rich or envied!
But it wasn't easy.Honest officers are despised, labeled as cowards and end up on the second or third rung from the top of the ladder.
They are only tolerated if they're willing to plod- someone has to do that!
No regrets though! Honestly!

The spread of misinformation by a former serviceman who once served in the Army is deeply troubling. Contrary to claims, Senapati town is not predominantly inhabited by Kukis. Many Meitei leaders seem to be driven by propaganda and disinformation targeting the #Kuki community, without regard for the truth.

This individual should be held accountable for inciting violence and fueling communal tensions in the already delicate situation in #Manipur.
