Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan could make billions on its early investment in SpaceX.

The Toronto-based pension plan first invested in Elon Musk's company in June, 2019. It was part of a funding round that raised US$314-million for Space Exploration Technologies Corp., at a time when its Starlink internet service was just starting to launch satellites and a boom in AI was still years away.

Seven years later, the pension fund is sitting on a potential windfall of as much as US$11-billion from its initial investment of about $300-million as SpaceX prepares to go public next week.

Fidelity quietly dropped its minimum account requirement from $500,000 to $2,000 - a 99.6% cut that lets millions of small retail investors in days before the biggest stock debut in history.

The catch is who they need to sell to.

- SpaceX reserved up to 30% of the offering for retail, far above the usual single-digit share
- Selling within the first 15 days triggers Fidelity penalties up to a permanent IPO ban
- At a ~$1.675T pre-money valuation this IPO creates more exit value than every VC-backed IPO of the last decade combined
- The xAI side lost $6.4B from operations in 2025, dragging a Starlink-powered company billions into the red

🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: Trump just signed an executive order that will functionally wall off the Canadian export economy from the United States.

Every Canadian company shipping to the US now must:

-Post much higher per shipment bonds

-Be CTPAT validated by US customs

In 2021, Canadian media and institutions basically hallucinated the discovery of 215 children’s bodies in a mass grave near a former Catholic residential school. The evidence: radar saw soil disturbances that could have been tree roots. A wave of church arsons ensued.

People making the case for censorship often urge that destructive manias like this can be suppressed/soothed if we prevent people from communicating about them. And here was a perfect case: false information was being recklessly (or maliciously) amplified, leading to literal hate crimes. Shouldn’t the censors do something?

But the mass-grave craze infected the censorship class, so opposition got targeted instead. At least one “disinformation” NGO categorized skepticism as “hate speech,” and Canada even saw efforts to criminalize so-called “denialism” (drawing an absurd comparison to the Holocaust).

The lineup includes a former Liberal minister who is a Muslim, a DEI executive who is also Muslim, a progressive lawyer interested in social justice issues who represented pro-Palestinian encampment activists, an LGBT activist, and an Olympic speed skater.

Only one member is Jewish: Senator Marc Gold, has a long public record in Jewish communal and pro-Israel advocacy.

The reason most Canadians don't seem to care about the economy is because just over 25% of employed work for the government and the 55+ age group which are the only demographics to have gained employment rates have also the highest percentile of defined benefits pension plan.

So we have a socioeconomic situation where over half don't have any financial interest in increasing productivity or care for the well being of the private sector but tell future generations to just lift their elbows a little higher as they vote to replace them with foreigners.
