@congressdj Iโm incredibly impressed by the lease prices now theyโre just so cheap and why not upgrade every three years if itโs only $25-$37 a month. Just makes sense to me plus trade in your old device and youโll get money credited.

Let your Tesla park itself and then come find you
Parking stress is optional in a Tesla. Roll slowly past open spots, pick one on the touchscreen, let go of the wheel and touch Start. Autopark handles parallel and perpendicular spaces and tells you when it is done.
Leaving is even better. Open the Tesla app, press and hold Come to Me, and Actually Smart Summon drives your car across a private lot or driveway to your phone, steering around objects while you watch live camera feeds. Go to Target sends it to any spot you drop a pin on, and the hazard lights flash when it arrives.
It works with your phone within 279 feet of the car, and the FSD (Supervised) v14.3.7 update raised Summon top speed to 8 mph. Dumb Summon still slides the car straight in or out of a tight garage, and Cybertruck started getting it in June.
Autopark, Actually Smart Summon and Dumb Summon all come with the @Tesla FSD (Supervised) subscription at $99 a month on eligible cars. Stay ready to stop the car at any time.

1/2 Robotaxi Safety Check: 3.47 Million Unsupervised Miles and Still Zero Injuries
Friday, October 23, 2026
New from Tesla today: the live counter on Tesla's Robotaxi Safety Report reads 3,467,378 miles driven with no safety monitor onboard, up 70,832 from 3,396,546 yesterday. Tesla says the counter estimates miles at the fleet's current pace, so treat the daily jump as Tesla's estimate.
The collision tally covers Jan 22 to Oct 18 and is unchanged. Per Tesla: 0 people injured by Robotaxi, 0 Robotaxi airbag deployments and 0 pedestrians or cyclists hit. Tesla's benchmark from 2024 Texas police data says human drivers would have had about 9.1 injury collisions over the same miles.
Next test: @robotaxi now serves the area around Circuit of the Americas for this weekend's US Grand Prix, with rides until 1 am. Big crowds and late nights are where the next report's numbers will matter most.
Still open: Tesla's sworn Cybercab answers to @NHTSAgov are due Oct 30. NHTSA posts crash filings about a month after they are filed, so independent checks of the newest miles lag behind Tesla's counter.

3/3 Just One Quart
Want a single jar? Mix 2 cups water, 2 cups vinegar, 2 tablespoons canning salt and 1 tablespoon sugar. Same 1/1 balance, same bite.
Pack the cucumbers with the blossom end trimmed off, cover them with brine and refrigerate. Sample daily and they are ready in 2 to 3 days. Next up: what goes in each quart jar.

1/3 Pickle Press: One Cold Brine
Friday, Oct 23, 2026
The crunch in a Two Growls garlic dill comes from the brine, and the brine is simple. Equal parts water and white vinegar at 1/1, a cup of canning salt and a little light raw cane sugar. Nothing gets cooked and nothing gets canned. It goes in cold and stays in the fridge, over cucumbers with the blossom end trimmed off.

2/3 The Big Batch
For about 2 gallons of brine:
1 gallon cold water
1 gallon white distilled vinegar, 5% acidity
1 cup canning salt
1/2 cup light raw cane sugar
Stir until the salt and sugar disappear. Pour it cold for the greenest, snappiest pickles. Warm brine speeds things up but costs a little color and crunch. Cut off the blossom end of every cucumber before packing, since its enzymes can soften pickles.

2/2 Why the Vallejo FSD Crash Is Not in Robotaxi's Numbers
Friday, October 23, 2026
A 71 year old pedestrian was struck and killed around 2:35 am Thursday on westbound Interstate 80 near the Interstate 780 interchange in Vallejo, California. The California Highway Patrol says the 26 year old driver reported the Tesla was in Full Self Driving at about 70 mph, and dashcam video shows the car braking and steering left as the man crossed from the right shoulder toward the median. CHP says at least one other vehicle hit him afterward and left the scene. The investigation is ongoing and the car's logs are not public.
Why it matters for safety data: this was a privately owned car using FSD (Supervised), with the driver responsible at the wheel. Tesla's Robotaxi report counts only driverless Robotaxi miles with no safety monitor, so this crash is not part of it. Driver assistance crashes and driverless crashes are separate categories, and mixing them up misleads in either direction.

Service Dogs for Veterans, Help Close to Home
Thursday, Oct 22, 2026
With Veterans Day a few weeks away, here is how Tampa Bay veterans are finding service dogs. In Pinellas County, the Clearwater Kennel Club presented a $5,000 donation in January to Mary Peter, founder of K9 Partners for Patriots @k9p4p. After touring the program in May and watching veterans train, the club's board voted unanimously to give $25,000 more.
K9 Partners for Patriots, in Brooksville, pairs veterans living with PTSD with rescue dogs and guides each team through obedience, public access and service task training together, at no cost to the veteran. The program says one team costs about $21,000 to train and notes it is not funded by the VA.
In Hillsborough County, Valor Service Dogs @ValorDogs near Wimauma trains dogs to recognize signs of anxiety and post traumatic stress and interrupt those episodes. FOX 13 reported in May that the nonprofit, founded by Carol Lansford, has placed 47 dogs in 10 years, each trained about two years. Retired Army Col. Peri Anest says his golden retriever Andy helps interrupt recurring nightmares and lets him go to the grocery store and crowded events again.
VA does not provide service dogs itself. Its service dog veterinary benefit covers guide dogs and hearing and mobility service dogs, including mobility dogs when a mental health condition is the main cause of substantial mobility limits. Approved veterans are referred to programs accredited by Assistance Dogs International or the International Guide Dog Federation, and the benefit pays for veterinary insurance, needed hardware and travel to get the dog. The process starts with a VA clinician, such as at Bay Pines VA @VABayPines, and the local Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service. Pinellas County Veterans Services helps veterans with benefits at 727 464 8460.
Our own Odin, trained for PTSD and spasm alert work beside his handler Ski, shows every day what a trained partner can mean.

Service Animals Weekly Review
Sunday, Oct 18, 2026
Covering the last 7 days, Oct 12 to Oct 18
This week was all about the many kinds of work service animals do. We met hearing dogs that turn sound into touch, miniature horses that guide, diabetic alert dogs with a nose for blood sugar, seizure dogs that stay close when it matters most, and psychiatric service dogs whose work is easy to miss.
We closed the week with two lessons for everyone: how to act around a working team, and how to honor a service dog when it is time to retire. Our own Odin, Ski's 8 1/2 year old golden retriever, was part of three of this week's stories.

๐ Leaning Banana Stalks Can Mean Root Nematodes ๐
Friday, Oct 23, 2026
Stalks leaning or toppling with a bunch on? UF/IFAS says burrowing and spiral nematodes damage banana roots and the rhizome, leaving plants open to disease and easy to blow over. The National Weather Service has northeast gusts near 30 mph in Tampa Bay this weekend.
UF/IFAS says clean planting material is the best control, like tissue culture plants or pups with healthy white roots. Check roots for dark, dead spots before you buy or plant, and prop heavy bunches now.
