The Digital Decade Report 2026 is here!
🎯How close is the EU to its digital targets for 2030? And what do European citizens think about them?
The results are clear: Europe is heading into the right direction, but more speed, scale and stronger cooperation are needed.

@DoesItPlay1@EU_Commission Hi, thanks for the reply. On top of the existing consumer rights, we will explore ways of improving industry standards, including a code of conduct to preserve more games & benefit consumers.
Today, the @EU_Commission replied to the European Citizens Initiative "Stop Destroying Videogames".
New legislation will not be proposed, but exchanges will be initiated with consumers & industry to improve the management of videogames' end-of-life.

@ItsHawx@EU_Commission Thank you for the reply. We will explore ways of improving industry standards, including a code of conduct. On ECIs: they represent a democratic tool for citizens to bring to the table issues & led to concrete results, like for the ECIs "Right to Water".
@Thornskade@EU_Commission Hi, thank you for your reply. ECIs like Save Bees and Farmers or My Voice My Choice have led to concrete results, and they are a democratic tool for EU citizens to bring forward relevant topics on the EU agenda.
@namedXbird@EU_Commission Hello, thanks for your reply. We are not closing the door to enhancing consumer rights in this area. Actions, such as a code of conduct on managing video games’ end of life will be looked into to improve industry standards.
@LJITimate@EU_Commission Hello, thanks for your reply. ECIs give EU citizens the opportunity to bring topics on the EU agenda. They are an important tool that led to concrete results. Two examples are Right to Water & My Voice My Choice. In this case we will follow up with a code of conduct.
@VinderTomat@EU_Commission Hello @VinderTomat, thanks for the reply. Codes of conduct put in place in the past have proved effective & represent a productive way for the industry and consumers to come together & discuss. If the self-regulatory avenue does not work out, we will analyse the situation.
