CORPUS CHRISTI: THE BODY OF CHRIST

Tomorrow, Holy Mother Church celebrates the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, a feast dedicated to the greatest gift Jesus left us: Himself in the Holy Eucharist.

The Eucharist is not merely a symbol. It is not ordinary bread and wine. It is the true Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At every Holy Mass, Heaven touches earth. Jesus becomes truly present on the altar and gives Himself to us as spiritual food for our journey to eternal life.

As Catholics, we kneel before the Blessed Sacrament because we believe the words of Christ:

"For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink." (John 6:55)

Tomorrow, let us spend time with Our Eucharistic Lord, attend Mass if possible, make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament, and thank Jesus for remaining with us in every tabernacle throughout the world.

The Eucharist that we receive at every Mass is Jesus.

Michelangelo died a devout Catholic on Feb 18, 1564, age of 88 in Rome. His final days were marked by deep reflection, prayer, & concern for his soul's salvation.

He was in his 70s when he created this last sculpture of Nicodemus holding Christ. He was ashamed of this piece.
