Somaliland does not ask the world to create its statehood. It asks the world to acknowledge the statehood it has built, sustained and defended.

In an increasingly uncertain and strategically vital Horn of Africa, recognising Somaliland is not merely an act of justice. It is an investment in peace, stability, democratic governance, maritime security and a more credible regional order.

Therefore, the time has come for the international community to recognize the Republic of Somaliland and embrace the peace, stability, democracy and strategic value it brings to the Horn of Africa.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱: 𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲!

The world can no longer afford to overlook the existence, statehood, and sovereign reality of the Republic of Somaliland.

Somaliland is not an abstraction or a political aspiration; it is a living, functioning state and an established geopolitical reality in the Horn of Africa.

For more than three decades, Somaliland has demonstrated that its value to the international community is far greater than the assistance it has received from it.

With limited international support, Somaliland has built a remarkable record of achievement:

1. 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲:

Somaliland has largely stood on its own feet, building its economy, institutions and development without becoming dependent on international aid, hand outs or political patronage.

2. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆:

Somaliland has independently contributed to the security and stability of the vital waters of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden; without requiring others to secure its coastline for it.

3. 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆:

Somaliland has maintained internal peace and security while cultivating peaceful, respectful and non-interfering relations with its neighbours.

4. 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲:

Somaliland has established a functioning democratic system that remains a rare and valuable achievement in the Horn of Africa.

5. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

Somaliland has built functioning national institutions and a durable system of governance that continues to serve its people.

6. 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆:

Somaliland enjoys a profound bond between its people and their national identity; a people deeply committed to their statehood, sovereignty, flag and homeland.

7. 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆:

Somaliland has produced political leaders, from both the ruling party and opposition alike, who may differ profoundly in their political vision, yet remain united by a commitment to their country and people, and who have repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to put the national interest above political differences.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻:

All these elements are the unique strengths and attributes of the Republic of Somaliland that the world continues to overlook.

These are the qualities that fundamentally distinguish the Republic of Somaliland from THE FAILED STATE OF SOMALIA, in which the international community itself has failed.

A statement of confidence, sovereignty, and responsible leadership

The destiny of the Republic of Somaliland has never depended on the approval of others, nor will it be diminished by their opposition. Our nation stands upon the democratic will of our people, the legitimacy of our history, and the enduring reality of our statehood.

President Hassan Sheikh should focus on ending the suffering his people have endured for over 35 years, rather than making threats over matters beyond his jurisdiction. True leadership is measured by solving problems at home, not by creating distractions abroad.

Somaliland will continue to pursue constructive partnerships with all nations based on shared interests, peace, and prosperity.

The Republic of Somaliland is a nation shaped and defined by Its people, not by external forces!!

Tonight, the world witnesses more than a football match. It witnesses a contest for the very soul of the beautiful game.

Two proud footballing civilizations, Spain and Argentina, meet on the grandest stage, carrying generations of passion, artistry, and national pride.

My heart stands with Argentina, inspired by the incomparable Lionel Messi (the Contemporary King of Football) whose genius has elevated the game beyond sport into timeless art.

I hope many Somalilanders around the world will join me in celebrating this historic global spectacle and in supporting Argentina (La Albiceleste).

Tonight, the world speaks one language: The language of the beautiful Game of Billions. 🇦🇷⚽

Patriotism is the highest calling of citizenship. It is not measured by political colour, office, or influence, but by an unwavering devotion to the nation's sovereignty, dignity, and destiny.

In moments of national challenges, every Somaliland citizen bears a sacred moral obligation to rise above partisan interests, reject division, and stand united in defence of our homeland.

Patriotism demands more than words! It calls upon every citizen never to lend strength, voice, or legitimacy to narratives, agendas, or alliances that undermine Somaliland's quest for recognition or embolden those who seek to sabotage Somaliland’s sovereignty and national aspirations.

In the face of adversity, history will honour those who chose unity over division, country over self-image, and the enduring interests of Somaliland above every fleeting political difference.

July 1st is not a day of celebration! it is a day of remembrance and sorrow for the people of the Republic of Somaliland.

July 1st is a day marked by injustice, oppression, and betrayal.

For the people of Somaliland, July 1st symbolizes the moment its hard-won sovereignty was sacrificed to a union that brought neither equality nor fraternity, but decides of suffering, injustice and cruelty.

For the people of the Republic of Somaliland, a reflection on July 1st strengthens our collective enduring resolve that our sovereignty, statehood, dignity, and right to determine our own destiny shall never again be compromised.

The 66th Anniversary of Somaliland’s Independence embodies a profound historical journey:

From becoming the first Somali people to attain independence and raise their own national flag on 26 June 1960; to the fateful decision to surrender that hard-won sovereignty in pursuit of Somali unity; to the injustice, marginalization, and atrocities that followed; to the immense sacrifice, bloodshed, struggle, and resilience through which the people of the Republic of Somaliland reclaimed their nationhood.

Today, as new challenges and hostilities emerge in the wake of Israel’s recognition and expanding global partnerships; this anniversary stands as a solemn reminder that every Somaliland citizen bears a sacred duty to safeguard the sovereignty, dignity, and future of the Republic of Somaliland.

𝐈𝐒𝐑𝐀𝐄𝐋 𝐒𝐀𝐖 𝐔𝐒 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓!

When the world chose not to see us, Israel saw us first.

When 193 appeals were met with a deafening silence, Israel was the first that answered.

When the suffering and atrocities endured by the people of Somaliland were denied, overlooked or forgotten, Israel acknowledged them!

When others denied our statehood and sought to dismiss the inalienable right of the people of the Republic of Somaliland to determine their own destiny, Israel affirmed that right!

Therefore, a friend who stands beside you in moments of isolation cannot be equated with those who oppose your existence or deny your aspirations.

For this reason, the Government and people of Israel hold a special and enduring place in the hearts of Somalilanders who cherish their nationhood, their freedom, and their future.

*What binds Somaliland and Israel together?*

What binds Somaliland and Israel together is not a common religion, culture, language, or ancestry!

What binds Somaliland and Israel is a history shaped by hardship and sacrifice, a determined struggle for survival, and the enduring memory of atrocities and persecution endured by both our peoples, yet refused to surrender their identity.

To those who deny the existence of Somaliland and Israel, we respond with one united voice:

We exist!

We have endured!

And we shall continue to endure.

The empty rhetoric, jealousy, and warmongering threats emanating from the failed administration in Mogadishu (an authority that's not capable to govern even itself over 35 years) cannot alter the reality of the sovereign partnerships, mutual recognition, and strategic cooperation that now exist between the Republic of Somaliland and Israel.

Somaliland threatens no one. We have consistently pursued peace, stability, mutual respect, and good-neighbourly relations with all countries in the region. The hostility, resentment, and inflammatory rhetoric coming from Mogadishu will neither intimidate nor deter us from advancing our national interests and international partnerships.

The people of Somaliland are fully capable of defending their homeland, safeguarding their sovereignty, and protecting the democratic and peaceful state they have built through bloodshed, sacrifice, resilience, and determination.

However, if Hassan Sheikh and his crime-in-partner allies choose the path of aggression and armed conflict, they should be under no illusion that this time round Somaliland does not stand alone!!

The Republic of Somaliland is a nation forged through sacrifice, resilience, perseverance, and unwavering determination. It is a country built by the devotion of its people whose patriotism, love of country, and commitment to self-governance run deep within their hearts and minds.

Somaliland has been blessed with leaders of conscience, wisdom, and integrity who have consistently placed the interests of their people above all else, guiding the nation with prudence, responsibility, and a clear sense of purpose.

The Republic of Somaliland harbors no ambitions against any other nation. It seeks neither conflict nor confrontation. Instead, it has chosen the path of peace, mutual respect, and good neighborliness with all countries in the region.

For more than thirty-five years, the Republic of Somaliland has demonstrated to the world that peace, stability, democratic governance, and functioning state institutions can be built and sustained through the will and determination of its people.

In stark contrast, Somalia to date continues to grapple with insecurity, terrorism, political instability, displacement, and recurring conflict.

This raises a profound and unavoidable moral question:

What truly defines a state in the eyes of the international community? Is it a society that has successfully established peace, conducted democratic elections, maintained security, and built accountable institutions? Or is it one that remains trapped in cycles of violence, instability, and humanitarian crises?

The answer to this question remains one of the great contradictions of contemporary international politics.

It is worth reflecting on the fact that the U.S. Deputy Ambassador H.E. Justin Davis visited yesterday morning to a country that enjoys peace, stability, and order: The Republic of Somaliland.

He then returned yesterday afternoon to a country plagued by conflict, bloodshed, and widespread displacement (Somalia), where even diplomatic movement remains heavily restricted beyond the secure perimeter of the Halane compound.

For 35 years, the Republic of Somaliland faced political isolation, economic exclusion, and diplomatic silence from much of the international community; including those who speak in the name of Islamic and Arab countries as well as African nations.

When Somaliland’s greatest aspiration was recognition of its legitimate sovereignty and democratic existence, the State of Israel responded with daringly & decisively, with political courage and historic clarity by granting full recognition to the Republic of Somaliland on 26 December 2025.

Somaliland’s sovereignty, independence, and pursuit of international recognition are fundamental national and human rights belonging to the noble people of the Republic of Somaliland; a right that no individual, institution, internal or external forces can deny, obstruct or reverse.

Those currently opposing Somaliland’s decision to open its Embassy in Qudus are, in reality, opposing Somaliland’s existence and fundamental sovereign rights of it's people, its national interests, and future progress.
