Ms Tyrrell broke ground in 2022 as the first One Nation MP ever elected to the Victorian parliament and has been a strong voice for an end to the neglect of regional areas by the Andrews, Allan and Carroll Labor governments.

A former farmer and emergency services volunteer, Ms Tyrrell has also worked in the hospitality, tourism and real estate sectors. She’s a mother with two children.

Ms Tyrrell has been a strong advocate for Northern Victoria and regional communities across the state, highlighting in particular the Labor government’s appalling and dangerous neglect of the regional road network.

She has advocated for reductions in red tape for the state’s irrigators, and for the expansion of drought assistance provided to farmers.

Ms Tyrrell also moved to criminalise desecration of the Australian and Victorian flags, and has advocated for implementing recommendations for IBAC and the state Ombudsman to improve government accountability.

She has also spoken strongly against the divisive ‘Respectful Relationships’ program rolled out in Victorian schools.

Allison Pearson has received a public apology and a five-figure payout from Essex’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner after successfully suing him for defamation.

The apology from Roger Hirst follows comments he made after Essex Police officers visited Pearson over a post on X that the force alleged had incited racial hatred.

The incident, which took place in November 2024, sparked a national debate about the policing of alleged hate crime and Non-Crime Hate Incidents (NCHIs) on social media.

The Government has now scrapped NCHIs in their previous form following a campaign led by the Free Speech Union and others, arguing that the police should focus on our streets, not our tweets.

Pearson was visited at her home on Remembrance Sunday by Essex Police officers after it was alleged she had incited racial hatred in a post on X. She said she was left “dumbstruck” by the incident, after which the force published a series of press releases setting out its version of events.

Essex Police also complained to the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) about Pearson’s reporting of the visit to her home, in what many saw as an attempt to silence her.

A former Reform UK candidate is suing his former employer, leading law firm CMS, for £400,000 after it fired him last year.

Dan Cooper, a former Senior HR Business Partner at CMS, was dismissed in March 2025 following a series of posts on X relating to Islam and trans rights.

Mr Cooper has now filed an employment tribunal claim against CMS, alleging that he was discriminated against because of his political beliefs. His case is due to be heard in July 2028.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Mr Cooper said: “I am delighted to now have the opportunity to set the record straight in a court of law and fight for my right to free expression of thought and speech in the workplace.”

In 2025, an employment tribunal ruled that criticism of Islam could qualify as a protected belief in the case of actuary Patrick Lee.

Mr Cooper’s case is the latest in a growing number of employment disputes involving gender-critical and Islam-critical beliefs.

In one post, he wrote: “I hate Islam. It’s a 7th century barbaric cult. I don’t fear it, I loath [sic] it.”

In another, Mr Cooper described himself as “anti Islam”, claimed transgender people were mentally ill, and called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a “coke addict”.

Mr Cooper had been due to stand as a Reform UK candidate for Boston Borough Council in May’s local elections. However, a Reform UK spokesperson said he would now “never be a candidate for Reform UK” and that his membership has been suspended.
