@Westermann14 @_Matt_Hammond_ @Yordaddy2026mvp I never said not knowing Dutch. I said they aren't fluent, which is logical because in Aruba eg less than 10% of the population speaks Dutch at home. The recent census numbers are public.

That does not translate to any type of cultural one as like I said before, only Arubans who actually live in NL have a true connections to NL and that's not the baseball pros

@Westermann14 @_Matt_Hammond_ @MarcusBlumberg @Yordaddy2026mvp It's also why the kingdom team gains zero traction in Dutch media (besides that baseball isn't even a top 20 sport in NL), because none of the pro's, including Didi who happened to have been born in NL, can speak fluent Dutch, so the interviews are always awkward or in English.

The Dutch league itself is shouldered by Caribbean students and 2nd/3rd generations born in NL itself. The "top" guys though never go to NL, which is why most don't speak good Dutch.

You are a citizen of the constituent country of birth(unless you follow the above). The nationality is of the Kingdom of NL (tied to the kingdom, not NL proper).

You only become a citizen of the Netherlands itself if you physically move, sign out of the Aruban civil registry and sign into the Netherlands' civil registry.

@cjwalters4242 @RealOmerAsik @capitaljayhawk @sadsportfanwill @CespedesBBQ The chart is wrong because it states the players are born in the Netherlands, which is simply untrue. 9 are born in Aruba, 14 in Curaçao and 5 in the Netherlands. If it said "Kingdom of the Netherlands" then it would be true. Nationality is tied to the kingdom, not to NL itself.
