Today, we mark exactly six years since we unveiled the National Unity Platform (NUP)—the political wing of the People Power movement. What a journey it has been! A journey of sacrifice, pain, and triumphs.
When we set out, may detractors said we wouldn't last a month. They called us hooligans and lumpens. They branded us a passing wave that would never amount to anything. They dismissed us and unleashed all manner of propaganda against us.
But we did not give up or give in. Today, we still stand as a potent, resilient anti-dictatorship force known world over for standing for the rights and dignity of every citizen.
We celebrate this milestone under heavy hearts, remembering our comrades who are still languishing in illegal detention, those who have been tortured, and those who have paid the ultimate price for a free Uganda. We shall never forget their sacrifice.
To the regime: our spirits have not been and will not be crushed by the extreme repression!
To the people of Uganda: do not lose hope. The setbacks we have encountered are mere phases in an intergenerational struggle. We will complete this mission.
Thank you to our leadership team, our diaspora chapters, and every Ugandan standing firm at the grassroots. The journey may be long, but freedom is inevitable.
Happy 6th Anniversary, NUP! ✊🏾🇺🇬
Watch this and you might think you're watching films about Uganda in 2026. Except that these documentaries are about Uday Hussein, Saddam Hussein's son who was known for his excessive cruelty, abuse of women, erratic behavior, and gross human rights abuses- including torture, rape, and murder. Like Museveni’s brutal son, Uday employed extreme sadism, erratic violence, and total impunity to commit severe atrocities and terror campaigns against the people, until his death in 2003. Hoping that he would succeed his father, he murdered, kidnapped and jailed opponents - often times in his private prisons and torture chambers. Today, his name lies where it truly belongs - in the dungeon of history. History does not repeat itself - only fools repeat history, because they never learn anything from it.

Sending my condolences to the family, friends and constituents of Gen. Moses Ali upon his death. May Allah comfort you all and grant him jannatul firdaus. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un!
Sadly for Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, he is a Muganda, a Muslim, and a member of NUP. In Uganda today, each of these identities can invite hatred, brutality, and torture when one is abducted.
So imagine what happens to someone who combines all the three!
Today we were in Kalamba, Butambala District for Dua prayers in solidarity with Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, who remains missing after his abduction on 10th July 2026.
It is unacceptable for the state to continue holding him in incommunicado detention all this while. We also demand justice for the 10 people who were killed at his home on election night.

Please keep our brother and @NUP_Ug Deputy President Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi in your prayers. His whereabouts remain unknown since his abduction 9 days ago!
We’ve received disturbing reports alleging that Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi was tortured to near death at Kasenyi SFC military barracks and is now being hidden from the public while receiving treatment before he can be produced.
These reports cannot be dismissed lightly. Many of us have gone through similar ordeals at the hands of this regime and were deliberately hidden from the public until our wounds and the evidence of torture had faded.
While the regime keeps the country distracted with endless diversions, it’s now 10 days since our Deputy President of the Buganda region was abducted in broad daylight and since then, he has never been seen again.
Neither the police nor the army have accounted for his whereabouts.
Where is Hon Muwanga Kivumbi ?
I joined @TheWorld's @MarcoWerman to discuss why leaders who cling to power at the expense of their people remain one of the world's greatest threats, and why Uganda’s struggle for freedom deserves urgent global attention.
Kindly listen to the interview here:
Until recently his inflammatory posts on X — threats to invade Kenya, to behead his father’s biggest political rival or demands that Jay-Z hand over his wife, Beyoncé — were dismissed as the antics of a vulgar, arrogant soldier. But no longer. https://t.co/fOAiBQYqgz
For four months, Dr. Lina Zedriga Waru has been acting President of our Party. During this period, she has steered the party well and kept the revolution alive. We're all very grateful for her dedication and service.
As her tenure comes to an end, I am pleased to announce that Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe, Deputy President Eastern Region, will be taking over as acting President of the National Unity Platform. I wish him well and request all leaders and comrades to accord him the necessary support.

Very, very saddened by the death of at least 20 little children in an accident that occurred last night in Kapchorwa, Eastern Uganda. They had gone for a tour organized by King David Junior School in Ndejje. One can not imagine how broken their parents are by this tragedy that also claimed the school owner's life. Rest peacefully, little angels. My deepest condolences to your families, classmates, teachers, and all schools across Uganda who share in the pain of this devastating loss! And a quick recovery to the survivors. May God strengthen everyone affected by this tragedy.
