My perspective article on 4D optics was published in Science today. For details, please see: N. Engheta, "Four-dimensional optics using time-varying metamaterials" Science, 379 (6638), pp. 1190-1191, March 24, 2023: https://t.co/hOeqOnezTE
Essentially this is the sum of the corresponding triangular segments of this polygon (for n=1 we have a triangle!!!)
Vector algebra never ceases to amaze!
Need the area of a broken polygon?
Don't bother fixing it.
Just sum up the cross product of the two endpoints, and divide by two.
[Here u × v := u₁v₂ − u₂v₁. Works even if the polygon is nonconvex. Caveat: all segments must point counter-clockwise, since u × v = −v × u!]

Our new theoretical work on reconfigurable metadevices just appeared @LightSciAppl
We carve the path for the experimental implementation of "metadevices" for reconfigurable analog wave-based computing!
More details to come - Stay tuned!

Analog computing with em waves!!!
