@starme55555 I wrote a post about the Elbaf arc because of the online criticism toward Oda’s pacing. I’d really love to know what Japanese fans think. Could you read it and share your opinions? I’d really appreciate it.
@DiegodOrder Because netizens have been criticizing the recent pacing of One Piece, I wrote a post sharing my thoughts on the Elbaf arc. I’d really like to know what Japanese fans think. Could you share your opinions with me? I would be very grateful

I understand why people are criticizing it. You want Oda to do better. But please don’t be too harsh. Even Luffy gets hurt sometimes — Oda is only human. Imu just appeared not long ago. Give Oda a bit more time and space. I still believe in him and in One Piece.

I don’t really agree with this view. Elbaf has been pretty good so far.
The Valley of the Gods and the flashbacks of Rocks, Roger, and Garp are some of my favorite parts. Robin’s story is also great — it’s amazing how far she’s come from that little girl.
Most people seem to complain about Imu’s appearance. But Imu is the biggest enemy in the whole One Piece world — the “God” that Shanks wants to defeat. It’s still too early to fight Imu, and the Straw Hats aren’t strong enough yet.
So this arc won’t have everyone facing their own opponent like before.
Right now it’s more like setup. We’re getting more world history and seeing the Straw Hats grow. Zoro and Sanji will get Conqueror’s Haki, Usopp’s Observation Haki will get stronger, and Franky will get an upgrade.
If you look at it this way, the pacing doesn’t feel that slow. Once the setup is done, we’ll get the fights and character moments everyone wants.

If there were a fourth person in One Piece to awaken Conqueror’s Haki, it should be Usopp.
Oda’s portrayal of Usopp is the most distinctive.
Compared to Luffy and the others, Usopp is just an ordinary person. Unlike Luffy, he hasn’t eaten a Devil Fruit; unlike Zoro, he isn’t a swordsman; and unlike Sanji, he doesn’t excel at kicking techniques.
He is weak, so he deeply values his own life, and he tends to avoid fighting powerful enemies—that’s his way of protecting himself.
Stop calling Sanji a masochist. He’s not doing this on purpose.
He cares about his friends way too much, so he always jumps in first when there’s danger. He *could* wait for a better chance, but that would put his friends at risk—so he won’t wait, even if it’s reckless.
Protecting them is all he thinks about. He barely considers himself, which is why he takes so many hits he could’ve avoided.

Why is Ivankov the person Sanji fears the most?
Because Iva is the only one who truly understands Sanji’s inner weakness and proactively points it out—and he does so not as a crewmate or partner.
In reality, many people understand that Sanji doesn’t love himself. Take Luffy: during Whole Cake Island, no matter how hard Sanji kicked him, Luffy never fought back, because he knew Sanji was the one in greater pain.
There’s also Robin, who acts like an older sister, accepting and supporting him, happy simply because Sanji needs help.
@_alaaa67 You make a good point, but I'm a long-time reader, and many of the manga that have accompanied me over the years have already ended. So even if Oda is a bit slow, I'll still wait patiently. The feeling of losing that companionship is really unpleasant.
