The wealthy aren't currently taxed on the market value of their stock because they haven't sold it, they have not "realized the gains".

But if you are a homeowner you can be taxed on unrealized gains. Homes are taxed on the assessed value. That value may be higher than it's sales price. But the home hasn't been sold so it's an unrealized gain. By the time the home is sold it's value may have declined. You paid taxes on unrealized gains that may never be realized at the time of sale.

So why can't stockholders pay taxes on their unrealized gains and take the same risk as we do?

Prominent KwaZulu-Natal businessman, Nkululeko Mkhize, has been shot dead. He was shot at Zimbali estate, North of Durban

Reports : He was killed in a shootout with the SAPS National Intervention Unit after it invaded the estate in search of him.

Feared Richards Bay "businessman", Nkululeko Mkhize, has been shot dead. He was shot dead at Zimbali estate, north of Durban.

It appears that he died during a gun fight with the SAPS's National Intervention Unit when it stormed the estate looking for him.
