@SenBillCassidy Cut military spending first and then if still needed just raise the social security income limit....like remove the cap completely. Any questions?
@TraceyRyniec Agreed and thank God their are still some loyal and dedicated professionals in there but they don't have a lot of say over what crazy cases their bosses opt to put them on. Also, its a shame they need to lay low for fear of being fired. Much like our military leaders.
@TVietor08 Serious question I'd appreciate your take on: If the Dems take house and senate do you think they will do anything to end this war like cut off funding etc. because I don't. In fact I think many will sign the bombs and that's why I'm not longer a Democrat.
@kls_1978@MattWalshBlog I take it you are not Catholic. My comment was to Matt who claims to be Catholic. Your opinions don't matter to me. Matthew 16:18. "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it". Apostolic Succession.
@Ibebbee@MattWalshBlog My mistake. I thought you were Catholic. If you’re seriously considering the faith and wrestling with its consistency, X is probably the worst place to settle it. Talk to a good priest or theologian. I have my faith; I sincerely wish you well in finding yours.
@Ibebbee@MattWalshBlog I don't have a problem with you at all. You assume §2267 contradicts prior doctrine. The Church explicitly addressed this: §2267 is an “authentic development of doctrine” that is “not in contradiction with the prior teachings of the Magisterium.”
@Ibebbee@MattWalshBlog It sounds like you have a lot of deeply held issues with the teachings of the modern Catholic church. Have you left the church? Have you considered discussing with your parish priest?
@Ibebbee@MattWalshBlog That’s the part you’re asserting. The Church does not describe §2267 as a mere prudential judgment. It explicitly calls it an “authentic development of doctrine.” Leo reaffirmed both §2267 and that “the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment.”
@kls_1978@MattWalshBlog Correct, Genesis 9:6 is Noahic. But CCC §2267 teaches that even after the gravest crimes, human dignity is not lost and the death penalty is inadmissible. Pope Leo explicitly reaffirmed that justice can be satisfied without execution. As a Catholic, that is the teaching I follow.
