Those that are arguing against peace talks are complete sociopaths and should be called out for what they are. We MUST put an end to the war in Ukraine. Period.
Bring on the snow!! ❄️❄️
Our maintenance crews are out making sure park roads continue to be safe for travel. While most park roads are only open to snowcoaches and snowmobiles this time of year, the road between the North and Northeast entrances remains open to private vehicles year-round. If you plan to drive your vehicle into the park, be sure to check current status of park roads by:
➡️Visiting https://t.co/IxQq7d8iRQ,
➡️Calling (307) 344-2117 for a recorded message, OR
➡️Signing up to receive Yellowstone road alerts on your mobile phone by texting “82190” to 888-777 (an automatic text reply will confirm receipt and provide instructions)
Waterfalls in winter are pretty magical! Ice forms in varying shapes depending on conditions, revealing a different masterpiece each year. Do you have a favorite waterfall in Yellowstone?

If you’re visiting the park this time of year, the only vehicle access is through the North Entrance in Gardiner, MT. From there, you can drive 50 miles to Silver Gate and Cooke City, passing sights like Mammoth Hot Springs and Lamar Valley along the way. Services are limited, so come prepared!
Perched on a weathered snag, a red-tailed hawk blinks its nictitating membrane—the translucent shield that protects its eyes from dust, debris, and injury while still allowing it to see. This built-in “goggles mode” keeps the hawk’s vision sharp as it hunts and scans the landscape.
After a fresh blanket of snow yesterday, we woke up to a beautiful single-digit sunrise in Mammoth. Now we’re keeping our fingers crossed for more snow as we get closer to the start of our winter oversnow season.
Betty Reid Soskin, the trailblazing National Park Service ranger who became the oldest active ranger until her retirement at age 100, passed away peacefully Sunday morning surrounded by family. She was 104.
