Cyprus welcomes the announcement of the agreement between the United States and Iran.

The agreement represents a critical step for sustained de-escalation across the region, including Lebanon and for the restoration of freedom of navigation, and provides a renewed momentum towards a comprehensive negotiating framework for a lasting settlement of the nuclear issue and all other critical issues.

We encourage all parties to seize this opportunity and remain committed to dialogue, restraint and diplomatic engagement.

Συμμετείχα χθες, στο Χιούστον, στην Υπουργική Συνάντηση του σχήματος συνεργασίας 3+1, με τη συμμετοχή της Κύπρου, της Ελλάδας, του Ισραήλ και των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών.

Η Συνάντηση αποτέλεσε έναν από τους σημαντικότερους σταθμούς της επίσκεψης, καθώς επιβεβαίωσε τον στρατηγικό ρόλο της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου στην ενεργειακή ασφάλεια, τη σταθερότητα και τη διασυνδεσιμότητα της ευρύτερης περιοχής, σε μια περίοδο αυξημένων γεωπολιτικών και ενεργειακών προκλήσεων.

Ιδιαίτερης σημασίας είναι και η έναρξη λειτουργίας του Eastern Mediterranean Energy Center στο Baker Institute του Rice University, ενός νέου κόμβου συνεργασίας των χωρών του σχήματος 3+1, που θα στηρίξει την έρευνα, τον διάλογο πολιτικής, την καινοτομία και τη διαμόρφωση κοινών προσεγγίσεων στον τομέα της ενέργειας.

Η Υπουργική Συνάντηση ολοκληρώθηκε με την έκδοση Κοινής Δήλωσης, η οποία αποτυπώνει τις κοινές προτεραιότητες και τα επόμενα βήματα της συνεργασίας μας στους τομείς της ενεργειακής ασφάλειας, της ανάπτυξης των υπεράκτιων πόρων φυσικού αερίου, των κρίσιμων υποδομών, της κυβερνοασφάλειας, της διασυνδεσιμότητας και της περαιτέρω εμβάθυνσης των στρατηγικών σχέσεων των τεσσάρων χωρών.

A positive development for Cyprus’ image as a travel destination is reflected in the updated travel advisories issued by the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

The United States has decided to restore Cyprus to the normal travel advisory level, Level 1, recommending the exercise of normal precautions. This is the lowest travel advisory level.

At the same time, the United Kingdom has revised its guidance, thereby maintaining Cyprus among destinations for which there is no recommendation against travel, while also lowering the assessed level of risk.

These developments reflect our country’s image as a safe and high-quality destination.
