“They need our inspiration and encouragement to change their realities for the better. We must therefore continue to hold them accountable for nothing less than excellence.” (1)

4th grade @CreeksideCubs want to build a snowman. So they are doing snow dances hoping to welcome wintry precipitation. This is also a review of their previous science unit on weather & climate and also includes previous learning about the water cycle.
@CreeksideCubs Boys 2 Men program is having their final gathering for the school year. Students shared a character trait they learned about and a favorite memory from this year’s program. That’s a wrap on year 3. Looking forward to year 4. @loving75067
@dankrutka I’m seeing more of a push for PLC’s, in which I see the benefit. But, it is not the cure all for an entire school or class. The other variables I am noticing for my students are affecting the numbers in a big way.
@dankrutka Do you feel PLC’s can be used to help individual students or are PLC’s a part of the “numbers crunch” that target the whole school as you mentioned in your original post?
Just a reminder to all the coaches out there we are more than coaches. We are here to change lives. That’s the mission that’s the purpose to help others achieve things they didn’t think were possible.
5th grade @CreeksideCubs are playing a vocabulary gae about landforms and sedimentary rock using AVP cards. Can you find the correct answer before these 5th graders? #LISDSci
@CreeksideCubs teachers are partaking in Asian culture. I had to ask this question: How would I feel if my grocery store in a different country did not carry items I am used to?
5th grade @CreeksideCubs are going Across Disciplines by calculating the distance from the ☀️ to 🌎. Did you know light travels @ 11,160,000 miles in 1 minute? @LISDScience#scienceblooms#LISDsci
If we're really serious about having the conversations about race in classroom, equity, cultural-responsiveness and cultural- relevance, we must have a willingness to have an honest, uncomfortable conversation. Anything less and we're just playing games (see attachment).
My morning view...5th grade @CreeksideCubs are making connections with vocabulary by drawing pictures on AVP cards and teaching the class about their connection. @LISDScience#LISDsci#sciencerocks
Thank you to @EricJensenBrain for the powerful message on brain research, culturally proficient mindsets and awareness and ways to build empathy. Cultural proficiency is teachable and learnable and does not have to be fixed! @LisdLearns#LISDCulture#GrowthMindset
@PrincipalKafele kept it real today at the LISD Cultural Proficiency CLE. I am a batter man/teacher because of it. “Is (your student) at an advantage because you are their teacher?” “Let’s build something special here!” @CreeksideCubs#LISDculture
