The world of change derives its meaning from the world that does not. Thus, the unchanging ideas cannot be attributed to the minds of ever-changing men.

The universal ideas exist within the mind of the One who transcends the cosmos He created.

Philosophy ought to be defined as the contemplation of universal ideas. We come to recognize these ideas as we encounter them in the particular. Take, for instance, a tree. There are approximately 73,000 known species of trees, yet all are recognizably trees.

It is absurd to assume that the eternal can emerge from the temporal. By definition, the eternal is more real than the temporal. This is not to say that the temporal is an illusion, but that it is lesser in degree—contingent upon that which does not change.
