Pirates engraved their hometown on the inside of their gold earrings. If their body washed up on a strange beach, the gold paid for the coffin and the engraving told the finder where to ship the bones home. Freeman is doing the same thing. He is just the latest in a line that goes back much further than pirates.
In 1991, hikers in the Alps found a frozen man who had died 5,300 years ago. His ears were pierced. The holes had stretched to 11mm wide. We call him Ötzi. He is the oldest person known to have worn earrings, and he predates pirates by nearly five thousand years.
Ancient Sumerian queens were buried in gold hoops the size of doughnuts. Persian soldiers wore earrings into battle for luck. By 600 BC, Greeks were placing a small coin called an obol in the mouth of the dead. It paid Charon, the ferryman who rowed souls into the underworld. No coin meant your soul was stuck on the riverbank for a hundred years.
That coin is the ancestor of the sailor earring. By the medieval period, Scottish law reportedly required fishermen to wear a gold earring so that if they drowned and washed up somewhere strange, the finder had enough money to bury them properly. Pirates added the address-engraving trick a few hundred years later.
Then came Cape Horn. The Dutch found the passage in 1616, where the Pacific and Atlantic crash into each other. Rogue waves, icebergs, ships smashed against rocks. Sailors called it the graveyard. If you made it past the Horn alive, you earned a gold loop in the ear that faced it. Cape of Good Hope earned a ring in the right ear. Both capes plus a lap around the planet earned three rings.
Freeman has been sailing since 1967. He has covered close to 40,000 miles in open ocean, mostly on a Shannon 43 sailboat. His wife pierced his ears when he was around 35. He calls himself a blue-water man, sailor talk for someone who crosses oceans instead of hugging the coast.
His 2019 Facebook post explaining the earrings was four sentences. He said the gold is worth just enough to buy him a coffin if he dies in a strange place, that this is why sailors used to wear them, and that this is why he does. The hoops in his ears are doing a job people have been asking jewelry to do for over five thousand years.
I hope this message reaches the right person, as I have to try.
I am searching for my mother, Joy Bassey (maiden name), who comes from the Emienyi family in Nusomutong, Abi LGA, Cross River State, Nigeria. Her brother is Clement Bassey.
She left when I was very young, and I have spent my life without knowing her, hearing her voice, or having answers to my questions.
I was informed that she remarried and moved to Ghana, and since then, she has completely disappeared from my life.
If you know her, if you’ve heard her name, or if this message somehow reaches someone connected to her, please, I am begging you to help me find my mother.
Even the smallest piece of information could change everything.
Please repost. Someone out there must know something. 🙏💔
Dear Future Wife,
I hope this letter finds you in peace and joy. Today is a special day—the beginning of another Hallelujah Challenge, and I can already sense the mighty move of the Spirit of God. Scripture says “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”(Acts 1:8).
It’s a thing of joy to be a witness.
I’ve entered this season with excitement, and one of the things I’m most grateful for is you.
In so many ways I’ve prayed and thought about it’s be like and it is always positive, I know it comes with a lot challenges, but non is bigger than our daddy.
I carry you in my heart and prayers. I’m asking God to meet every need you have, to fulfill every desire according to His perfect will. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
I imagine what it will be like when we can join the Hallelujah Challenge together—hand in hand, hearts united in worship. The thought of us praising God as a family fills me with joy, already, even though I have not held it. “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20). I can’t wait for that day when we’ll declare His goodness together, creating a home filled with His presence.
Until then, know that I’m praying for you. I’m trusting God for His best in every area of your life and asking that He continues to prepare both of us for the glorious journey ahead.
May we always be vessels of His glory, forever giving Him our highest praise.
With love and anticipation,
Your DD.

How big are you thinking?
I read something fascinating about @RollsRoyce. They stopped advertising to regular people in car shows and started putting their cars near yachts and private jets in those other shows for the ultra rich. You don’t struggle to buy a RollsRoyce.
He’s a “survivor!”
Here is his story…
Born into a royal polygamous home, as the first male child, he became a “prey” to a diabolic step-mother (who happened to be the senior wife).
Anyone with knowledge of the “position” of the first male child in an Igbo royal home, of the 1950s-1980s, would understand why he’s a “prey”.
Barely aged 2, he was hit with a crippling sickness. It was poison. A big hole developed in his heart - still there till this day.
From running around happily, he was setback to crawling, then to lying down only, as his legs had seized to function. A day his chapter was to be closed, God extended his healing hand.
A dibia, rode his bicycle from a very distant town, about 3 towns afar, to see him. Dad’s breath had seized, he was in coma, yet not entirely gone.
Opulence and Ultimate sophistication intertwined in this @dioramma_official outfit.

It's been on my mind to say this prayer for those currently in the period of waiting.
Waiting for a job, an opportunity, a spouse, children, a light at the end of the tunnel.
I pray that very soon, you'll experience a miracle worth the wait in Jesus' name.
I once had a patient rushed in by his son because his face was swelling up faster than garri soaked in water.
I asked if he was allergic to anything and they said he hasn’t even eaten anything that morning how could this be an allergic reaction.
I still went ahead to treat him for severe allergies and he began to improve almost immediately. When he could speak I tried to get a history from him. He kept insisting he wasn’t allergic to anything.
It was when I asked him if he had taken any medicines that day he said he ran out of his BP medicines so he decided to take his wife’s own because they both had high blood pressure.
Turns out his wife was on a drug called Lisinipril while he was on Amlodipine. Both medicines are for high blood pressure no doubt but he was allergic to the Lisinopril. Baba told me he would never take any medicine that doesn’t have his name anymore.
Please don’t swallow medicine that is not prescribed for you. They may treat the same disease but may not be good for you.
Kindly repost to your mutuals for awareness.
