@peteremcc This wins for lamest post of the day. Calgarians will have plenty of fun at Stampede. They can drink from 7am every day. They can drink until 1:30 6/10 days of Stampede on weekends. And they can drink from 7A to midnight Monday to Thursday. The sky is not falling Chicken Little
BREAKING: Calgary city council votes AGAINST a motion to rollback changes to noise exemption rules for music festival tents during this year's Calgary Stampede.
Weeknight concerts must end at midnight, with cool-down music until 1am.
@Crockatteer@JeromyYYC@calgarystampede Middle ground was offered by the City. Paul Vickers and Cowboys flipped them the bird last year and said “fine us. We have factored that into the cost of our drinks”. The city has conceded more than ANY other city in North America. You’re in the wrong side of this Joan
@DaleNally_AB@UCPCaucus So because you backpedaled and caved in to lobbyist pressure, Mayor Farkas should? No that’s not how it works. We need to make the right decisions not the politically convenient ones. You could learn a thing or two from @JeromyYYC
@nenshi Looks like we know who received campaign donations from Paul Vickers owner of Cowboys. Worth noting that Calgary already has the most lenient noise rules for festivals in North America including 2026 Stampede
@JeffreyRWRath So extending the Cowboys tent hours BEYOND Country Thunder, BEYOND Folk Fest, BEYOND festivals like Coachella is screwing with Stampede? Oh and did I mention Cowboys is 15 blocks away from Stampede? And you haven’t been in Cowboys in how long Jeff? Relax big boy we’ve got this
@ShaneWenzel@Mattl8241 Shane, with respect, that’s the problem. These people didn’t CHOOSE. Cowboys wasn’t there two years ago. People who live near the 100+ year old Stampede Grounds chose. People near Millenium Park didn’t
@RealPureLove@ShaneWenzel “attack 100 years of Calgary's history, and culture.”??? You must be joking right? He isn’t attacking the famous Calgary Stampede. He is INCREASING the allowable concert time at Cowboys BEYOND Folk Fest, Country Thunder & other festivals. Dial down your hyperbolic rhetoric
Dinger is an ink whore. Anything to create enough controversy that someone might want to buy their 12 page newspaper. But on these three occasions he was spot on. The new changes will work out well for all.
Three times Rick Bell wrote columns complaining about the noise from concerts during Stampede.

These are the facts about Cowboys.
Compromise is part of living in a city.
Folk Fest ends at midnight.
Country Thunder and Chasing Summer end at 11pm.
People who live in our downtown deserve to be heard and live comfortably just like the rest of us.

@FreeAlbertaRob God you guys are whipped into such a lather for 30 minutes on weeknights. 30 minutes LONGER than Coachella Festival which is actually a festival. And tell me the last time Rob Anderson or Danielle were in Cowboys at 1am. What a joke
@BucklesandBulls@CoryBMorgan@CommonSenseYYC Who is “banning music”? God you guys are whipped into such a lather for 30 minutes on weeknights. 30 minutes LONGER than Coachella Festival which is actually a festival. And tell me the last time Rob Anderson or Danielle were in Cowboys at 1am. What a joke
@IreneNewstead Your post is a joke.
1. The relaxation offered last year was ignored by Cowboys and Vickers said “go ahead and fine me we’ll pay”. Same will happen this year
2. Reputation: Cowboys can run late on weekends. Coachella shuts down at midnight on weekends.
Virtue signalling
@FreeAlbertaRob It’s amazing to see how deep Paul Vickers campaign contributions go in our UCP govt. We already run festivals longer than Coachella — one of the biggest — for example. Why don’t we just say fuck it and run 24 hrs. Will that appease you?
@Canada_Misinfo@calgaryherald The Cowboys tent isn’t even one of the biggest events in this province let alone country. Understand this isn’t the Calgary Stampede we are talking about.
