STATEMENT: Another murder by federal agents in Minneapolis — Expand the General Strike!

The day after a historic general strike by the people of Minnesota, federal agents involved in Trump’s mass deportation campaign have committed yet another shocking act of deadly violence. Video footage from this morning shows federal agents in south Minneapolis wrestling a man to the ground, pinning him on the sidewalk, and shooting him multiple times while he was restrained and fully surrounded by officers who were striking him. Authorities confirmed shortly after that the victim had been killed.

The only appropriate answer to this murderous violence is to expand the general strike. The entire country was electrified at the moving images of massive unity and resistance from the Twin Cities yesterday. Federal agents have answered this mobilization with yet another murder. Now, the struggle must widen and grow stronger than ever.

Trump has unleashed a wave of terror nationwide. ICE and Border Patrol are the frontline enforcers of his racist campaign to expel huge numbers of people from the country that this white supremacist administration considers “incompatible with western civilization”. In the pursuit of this horrifying mission, federal cops have been given a license to kill with impunity.

Trump plans to continue his ICE invasions city by city, sending in thousands of agents to rip families apart and murder anyone who stands in their way. Just yesterday, the people of the Twin Cities showed the way. The people need to use our power to shut down business as usual and make it impossible for this reign of terror to continue.

I have always avoided talking about politics on this account. But this is my breaking point. I can't say nothing while ICE is going around executing people in broad daylight in my city, blocks from where I live.

They murdered a second person this morning. And I don't want to hear for a second that "he had a gun." Republicans' entire thing is about being pro-2A, that people have the right to be armed against a tyrannical government. Now a textbook example of government tyranny unfolds before you and your immediate response is to take their side? It makes no sense.

There were at least 7 federal agents on top of that man. IF he was armed, the video appears to show that he was disarmed before the shots were fired. There is absolutely zero justification for his killing. This is yet another example of these ICE agents being untrained, hate-filled escalators who are seeking out this kind of violence. They aren't making our community safer, they're making it 1000 times more dangerous.

Everyone can agree that violent criminals, of all backgrounds, should be prosecuted and jailed. A conversation can be had about immigration policy. But this isn't working. This has to stop. ICE has to get out of Minneapolis.

But I just watched a video of ICE officers attack a man who was helping a woman up, pin him on the ground, take his (legally owned) gun he NEVER attempted to holster, and then 6 officers shot him to death.

He was white (not important to me but def to MAGA assholes).

He was simply helping another citizen get up.

And he was pinned to the ground, disarmed and THEN ecexuted by masked agents working for Donald Trump’s gestapo.

“We are heartbroken but also very angry. 

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman. 

The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.
