@RBASHAGGER The tax changes are like chemotherapy for the cancer that Australian property has become. 2nd highest household debt globally, collapsing productivity, lack of innovation are gradually killing the country. Main problem is it's too late, 10 years too late
@Thomidog1@markbouris The whole housing market is completely manipulated by government intervention & taxation. It's not real. Many self proclaimed free marketeers who've become property moguls, merely rely on govt policy settings - not actually producing anything of value
@ngahpham That border where the photo was taken, is one of the scam centre hotspots. I would say anyone Chinese trying to navigate that border crossing would be getting a hard time right now.
@BurningBush_KJV@mykeyme123 No, Ancient Greek philosophy & thought designed almost everything western civilization is based on. There was no Christianity within a zillion light years. Long many Religion have zero role in secular democratic lawmaking.
@BurningBush_KJV Hanson is a tool of the wealthy elite. She is an instrument designed to bring about social division, oligopolistic control, authoritarianism leading to dramatic economic inequality. If you cannot see that BY NOW when she is literally saying it, god help you mate. God help you π€‘
@KatyKray73 Nope. This is a country with the 2nd highest mortgage debt in the world and an entire 'underclass' of younger generations locked out. Anyone calling this bad policy is just a vested interest who doesn't want their gravy train stopping π€‘
@genHCM Superiority aside, smart people leave because they don't want to be subject to entrenched nepotism their entire career. Until (or unless) that changes, VN will always have some degree of brain drain.
@bcyng@Trev__Says The policy changes create a period of short term pain for renters. But it's needed in order to medium-long term create a domestic shelter market that doesn't drag the whole country into oblivion, & allows the younger Australians to buy houses & start families again.
@DavidFealy@ellymelly@OneNationAus Mate, anybody who understands the bare basics of economics and lawmaking understands that ONP has no fkn idea π€‘.Might as well throw a bunch of random bricklayers into a room and form a party. They'd likely be more competent.
@nozryc@Standup_global Malaysia is the only country in SEA you can buy prop somewhat easily. Every other country either has it outlawed, or so restricted it's extraordinarily difficult. Then you've got to have a viable (and in demand) skillset to work locally. It's not a straightforward path.
@wild68223259 Gina's vision for Australia is closer to a tinpot central African nation where the average wage is 2 bucks an hour and there is no competition. She wants TOTAL deregulation & corp oligarchy. Asif her current wealth isn't enough. And she is curating One Nation to do her bidding.
@rationalaussie Unemployment numbers will be bad, but AI is not the cause(yet). Its a massive Covid hangover from spend and ZIRP (with 2008 in the background). Hardly any AI projects are currently generating any ROI, & the cost is astronomical. AI driven job elimination at scale still 10+ years
@PaulZauch Paul. Australia has the 2nd highest property $ in the world. Australia has the economic complexity of Uganda, is large part due to funneling of investment to the unproductive, govt supported property bohemoth. Any objective observer agrees with these changes to property taxation
@chauvinistIQue@CraigSarg73 Cobber, you're exhibit one for why we need formal IQ tests & licencing to grant people the privilege to vote. There is a solid argument we've got a slice of the voting public too intellectually impaired to qualify.
@raglanbeaufort@SkyNewsAust Mate, she is a multimillionaire, backed by the richest person in AU, & was caught willing to sell out the country to the US gun lobby. Just because she is a bogan doesn't mean she is 'one of us'. And who is 'us' ? π€‘ π€‘ π€‘
@BurningBush_KJV@reignitedem The end of two party dominance would be a good thing for Australia. But only if there is a genuinely capable alternative. Ipswich Ronald McDonald's merry band of Xenophobes & Rednecks are certainly not even close to the answer. π€‘
@ArcherElkington@BenFordhamLive Why? The tax changes are not only grandfathered, they haven't even passed yet. Aside from being a smug sociopath, there is no rational reason for you to do so.
