Very interesting report via @DublinInquirer/ @niamhnih on accessible toilets.
@_IHREC is proud to be home of one of Ireland's few @ChangingPlacesI toilets. While sadly closed atm due to COVID we look forward to having it reopened ASAP. @DisabilityFed

Your favourite accessible bathroom? A Lot of the “Accessible” Bathrooms Around Now Aren’t Really Accessible to Everyone. Great report @niamhnih@ChangingPlacesI DFI are proud to be working for more proper changing places. https://t.co/WtntCFomFE
It has repeatedly been made a point of that victims of COVID typically have serious underlying health conditions, so I just don't understand why this group is not further up the list now that their deaths could be prevented with quick access to the vaccine.
@GregcraigGreg@muirtheimhne@CMOIreland@c_oreilly@HollyCairnsTD@sparkle4autism We agree. We have joined a coalition of 15 organisations that wrote to the Taoiseach and the high level task force on vaccination asking for people with chronic conditions of all ages and their family carers to be prioritised https://t.co/vKRpNgbU16
Thanks so much to @Niamh_Not_Neeme for writing up this incredible piece about myself and 4 other fabulous disabled people about our disabilities and the journey to acceptance and self-love. 💜🚺♿️

I began writing this piece about the issues that the Temple Bar cobblestones pose for myself and others with mobility issues, and then realised the issue of accessibility in my city (and others) is bigger and much deeper than just a few pesky cobblestones.

Why #MakeWayday is needed This bike is here every day during the week, there are empty Sheffield bike stands 10 steps away. @MakeWayDay is for this person to learn about why #MakeWayDay20 is run by @DisabilityFed
Even the signs for #MakeWayDay20 were social distancing as we traveled safely for #MakeWayDay A @DFI visit was not possible but all the team @makeWayDay have created a wonderful day. Making people aware of the issue across the entire country. @dublinbusnews@IrishRail@Luas
It's unfortunate we can't get out and about on the streets to demonstrate about it this year because of the pandemic but it's great to see #MakeWayDay20 trending no.1 in Ireland and so many people joining the conversation!!
Going though Temple Bar with my mam today and because the path one side of the street has been removed, we had to go on the REALLY narrow side. I couldn’t get past the clothes rack and when I complained the woman working there said “well we’ve been here for 35yrs so 🤷♀️"
I got to write about the TikTok prank for @Refinery29 today: “Disabled people aren’t here for your ridicule. We’re not punchlines. We’re people. It’s my hope that more people (and platforms, too) join us in this fight. We need you all. Disabled or not.”

The Actors With Disabilities Redefining Representation https://t.co/QGUL6ya5HC An interesting article on the growing but minority realm at the moment where disabled actors carve out careers.@ILMIreland
I'm very grateful to @tcdsu for being so keen to help push this issue forward! Myself, @FreedomSaoirse and other activists are hoping to make Temple Bar more accessible for wheelchair users, mobility aid users + anyone else excluded from the area because of the pesky cobblestones
For @BitchMedia, I wrote about the @CCBCwisc research that 3.4% of kids’ books have disabled main characters, the barriers to disabled authors getting published, and the #OwnVoices conversation. https://t.co/oZLiFV2heU
Newsflash: The default mode in our society is not neutral, it’s ableist. The majority of systems and tools are not built for people with disabilities. So unless you are intentionally striving to make your work accessible, you are excluding people. #hardtruth
