Lots of brain-dead people are saying things like, “You’re just trying to manufacture outrage,” or “It’s just an ammo pickup, why do you care?” What they fail to realize is that this is just a symptom of a much bigger problem
What made the original Halo aesthetic so believable was that its artists grounded its fictional designs in real-world military hardware and engineering. Even though Halo takes place centuries in the future, its equipment still looked like it was designed by people who understood manufacturing, logistics, reliability, maintainability, and practicality. That attention to engineering detail is what gave Halo its unique visual identity and made the universe feel authentic
This redesign abandons those principles in favor of a generic “sci-fi” look. On its own, it’s just an ammo container. But taken alongside countless other design changes over the years, it represents a gradual erosion of one of Halo’s core design pillars
This is how an iconic visual identity dies, not through one massive change, but through hundreds of small decisions made by people who either don’t understand or don’t value what made the original design language so compelling in the first place. Death by a thousand cuts
@NobleCreatorr @romtaah22744 It shimmers for second before disappearing. You're also ignoring the charging handle on the side of the rifle. Not just that it has a charging handle, but it's a reciprocating. Why would it have one if it just teleported rounds straight into its chamber?
@NobleCreatorr @romtaah22744 Making a magazine for my character to grab and insert into my weapon is completely different from my weapon teleporting those rounds from that magazine and into the chamber
@NobleCreatorr @romtaah22744 You can clearly see inside the magazine. Regardless of whether it ejects casings or not it needs to feed those rounds somehow, right? There are plenty of amazing gun designs in D2 and there are plenty that don't make any sense or look awful
@DiscussingFilm If that was really his message, he shouldn't have put humanity up against an existential threat where the only way to keep the species alive was doing exactly what Paul and Keto II did lol
@HMBohemond I'm so tired of seeing this loser take on Dune. "Beware of someone doing everything necessary to keep humanity alive against an existential threat." Guess we should just let our whole species die out
@DocStrangelove2 I legitimately can't watch these anymore. Seething hatred is all I feel when I see pieces of history or even more modern weapons I and people I know would've loved to have just got to waste like this. Anger. Rage, even.
@100000000kills@Nobbie_OCs They are incredibly iconic, but the Coalition has been trying to make the series their own for a while now. I'm not gonna bash them too hard for what seems to be an overall move in the right direction. Especially compared to the travesty that was Gears 5
