@robinhanson I’m the same. Sometimes wonder if this is because I believe a) that absolute levels of wealth are more important and b) that high inequality and high growth go hand in hand.
@RobertMSterling Actually I think this is also because STEM classes build on knowledge from earlier year courses. Even someone capable of doing the work can’t snipe the prerequisite classes.

@Noahpinion No one knows the details but at a theoretical level, jobs exist to fulfill the wants of other humans, which are infinite, AI capabilities or compute capacity won’t be infinite, comparative advantage will determine the shape of future human jobs
@RobertMSterling We need a pithier way to say this. Maybe profit is what happens when what you create and put back into society is worth more than what you took out to make it?
