I used to be in favour.
In principle, with the right legislation and safeguards I still could be.
But once you've seen the statistics that disproportionately impact women, I doubt that safeguards will ever be enough.
Globally and in the UK around...
70% of lobotomies were carried out on females
70% of ECT was/is carried out on females
70% of puberty blockers are prescribed to females
70% of assisted suicides were carried out on females
70% of psychiatric euthenasia is carried out on females (more in some countries, especially where the majority of psychiatrists are male)
78% of victims of "mercy killings" are women and 88% of perpetrators are men.

We already know how keen the world is to see women as the problem, that needs labelling/medicating/fixing.
Whereas men get the sympathy, get to use MH as an excuse/justification for poor/abusive behaviour.

What safeguards can be put in place to fully and effectively protect women.

The qualifying clause is odd, especially coming from the supreme governer and defender of the faith in what is still (offically, at least) a Christian nation. To illustrate my point, try imagining a grand imam saying, "Eid Mubarak to Muslims celebrating".
