We can confirm that the repair work for the burst water main at our Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works, Dolgarrog was completed at lunchtime. We are now refilling the network.

Water supplies will still not be fully restored to customers for up 48 hours.

What a nightmare that sounds! Having to make a dam in river to get to the highly pressured pipe deep below. Can't see me or 1000s of people effected getting water anytime soon. Hope they announce where to get water from soon for babies who are on formula. No water in the shops.💧

🚨🇬🇧40,000 HOMES, SCHOOLS LEFT DRY IN UK AFTER WELSH WATER PIPE BURSTS

A major pipe burst at Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment in Wales Works has left 8,000 homes without water, with another 33,000 at risk. 5 schools, 2 libraries, and a medical center have shut down as crews race to fix the submerged pipe.

The repair is “dangerous and difficult,” requiring a dam-like structure to access the break under a riverbed. Furious residents slam Welsh Water, citing repeated outages—even on Christmas Day.

Bottled water is being delivered to vulnerable residents, but full restoration isn’t expected until tonight.
