I agree with Idris, except for using the term “woke.” Casting a character with someone of a different race/ethnicity is only considered “woke” to the people who don’t want to see it. No need to acknowledge them.
But there are a lot of those people who buy movie tickets.
Idris Elba says James Bond doesn’t need to be “woke”
“Bond is big all over the world. And audiences won’t [all] go for a Black male, an African male, playing Bond. That’s not what they like in their culture. Period…
Bond is so unrealistic, so a hint of reality is good, but let’s not try and make it woke. I think you’ve got to be pure to what it is: escapism. Don’t try and answer the world’s taste. Just be Bond.”

@RossDellenger Funny the judge ruled that Sorsby will “suffer probably, imminent and irreparable injury” if he doesn’t get an injunction. He broke the rules. Imagine violating rules at your job, getting fired and a judge forcing your job to rehire you because unemployment is bad.
@bartgregory How does a judge not affiliated with the NCAA or involved in reviewing eligibility cases/levying suspensions arbitrarily determine a two-game suspension? That’s more sketch than a full reinstatement and an admission of a rules violation.
NEWS: A judge in district court in Lubbock County, Texas, has granted the injunction requested by Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby. He’s set to be eligible for the 2026 season.
@TheRealDA_Lee@Marcus_Mosher Sure, but the option to jettison after a year (or two), is valuable. There are cap implications both ways, and if you have doubts about the long term viability of a player, eat the cap charge up front and work your accounting elsewhere.
@RulingSports But it’s more than rev share, right? The “NIL” deals for top-end talent have no cap. It’s an arms race for competitive football.
How would you have structured the settlement to control payroll costs for departments if they can’t have contracts or restrict player movement?
