@angigga@bsk1601 The vocal part is the ones amplfying those voices to set a narrative. There are more posts and videos about Argentinian fans getting along with everyone they meet. You may want to question why your algorithm has shown you the bad actors
@eightsixeights@janacelona As an argentinian im so tired of seeing misinformation about my country spread so widely. Like, people see some random idiot tweet "Yeah they are like- all descendants from nazis and they kill anyone with a lil bit of color in their skin" and immediatly think it must be true
@h1p0h1p0@grandaljotape the dispute over who owns the town is still alive. You ask the townsfolk and they will say they are canadian- cause the Canadians settled there after pushing other settlers out. If that never happened, the people there would most likely say they are from the US
@h1p0h1p0@grandaljotape Simple actually. Let's imagine for a second that a remote little town in the middle of the US is forcefully taken by Canada. In this scenario the US doesn't have the military or political power to negotiate about this and nobody will help them. Almost 200 years passed-
@llwtydeer dispute the invasion. The islanders wouldn't be from there if the islands were never taken. Simple as that. I'm sure that in 100+ years if Ukraine doesn't recover their stolen territory, if you asked the decendants of the Russian settlers they would vote to stay Russian.
@llwtydeer Thing is, the islands were in fact stolen from us. UK recognized the Spanish claim to them and as successor state to the viceroyalty they were under, they belonged to us. Our settlement there was forced out by the British and we didn't have the political or military power to -
@ProleOtter Thing is, we had a stable settlement. It wasn't abandoned by us, the settlers were forcefully removed by the British. Yes, they are natives there but because they used force to kick out other settlers that would have been natives after the same time passed if they didn't.
@mijaroo23@remastered_sol_ As we previously had invasions from the UK before our independence which we kicked out. The fact that a Military Junta started a stupid war to save their image which they later lost doesn't excuse the fact they were stolen from us on the first place.
@mijaroo23@remastered_sol_ UK recognized Argentina's sovereignty in 1825, which included recognizing their territory. The islands were part of it. In 1833, taking advantage of a weak new state, they forced the settlers out and took it for themselves, not the first time they tried to colonize our country-
