Watched Blue Velvet with Kid Millions for first time in 20+ yrs. Dialog is bit clunky but when its scary it's still very scary and when its funny....my lord I laughed for 5 minutes over this two second shot. So suave.
Tried to make "Dog Soldiers" my final spooky season viewing but it suffered from high expectations. Then turned my attention to "When Evil Lurks". Whew! Been a while since a film gave me nightmares. This one is likely to do so....evil kids and evil dogs and evil lurking....
Night before Halloween for a first time watch of "House on Sorority Row". Loved the hallucinatory shenanigans. Easy to see it growing better and better with each future view. Also killer party with a great band and tons of horny dorks. Good fun!
Watched Lair of the White Worm last night. Amanda Donahoe is easy top 3 best female villain in cinema. The charmed snake walk sealed the deal. Campy, phallic fun!

Blood Bath - Scout Master General and Cuddles the Dog are on the trail of a dried meat eating killer in a city that's ready to boil over!
Megalopolis bummed me out but then went home and watched Sole Survivor (1984) on Shudder. Strong "It Follows" vibes. Creepy and fun. My favorite horror find since Messiah of Evil. Bring on spooky season!
Here's a little Dahl styled shorty about a boy who would rather be elsewhere (inspired by my own photogenic but occasionally surly progeny)

fwiw I was never a big Mr. Ripley guy. However, switching to a lower class of characters and using Ripley as an agent of chaos (Hoppers expertise) instead of the main character worked well for me. Also one eyed Sam Fuller as Ripley's sugar daddy roaming an abandoned NYC is YES!
Watched Wim Wender's The American Friend last night. My lord that's a pretty movie. Every shot is a postcard. Dennis Hopper as a German cowboy Tom Ripley. Who knew! (not me)
I'm halfway through season 2 of Columbo and I'm pretty sure Columbo is a serial killer who frames semi famous 70s actors for his own crimes. And Robert Culp is the devil who keeps showing up to egg him on to more victims. I β€οΈ Columbo.
Watched American Graffiti this weekend. Figured I had seen it before but no. Excellent! But now I'm deep in the "Happy Days/L&S is a George Lucas joint" rabbit hole imagining Harrison Ford as Fonzie!
