In late July 2026, USDA recalled two Canadian-made foods after they entered the U.S. without required import reinspection. No illnesses were reported.

Both were Class I recalls because safety could not be verified at the border.

Maple Leaf bacon — 12,036 lb (July 24)
Not-ready-to-eat uncured bacon from Canada (EST. 1), packed as 12-oz Royale Natural and TOP VALU brands. Made June 9–15, 2026; sell-by dates in early September 2026. Sold at Grocery Outlet stores in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Cause: missed U.S. reinspection; company called it border paperwork error.

BCI Foods chicken noodle soup — ~4,300 lb (July 23)
10.5-oz tasty KITCHEN condensed soup cans from Quebec (EST. 142). Made Feb. 4, 2026; best-by Feb. 4, 2028; lot 5 9 2 26 035. Sent to Oklahoma food banks/pantries. Cause: importer told USDA the shipment was never presented for reinspection. BCI had a similar soup recall in 2023.
