BREAKING: According to U.S. government officials, CJNG leader Juan Carlos Valencia González, alias “O3,” has reportedly considered ending his organization’s support for Iván Archivaldo Guzmán (IAG) and Jesús Alfredo Guzmán, alias “Alfredito,” as well as halting CJNG operations conducted in support of Los Chapitos.

The reported shift appears driven by the significant costs the Sinaloa conflict has imposed on CJNG, along with the increased risk associated with continued involvement as Mexican authorities have made clear their support for Mayito Flaco in Sinaloa.

U.S. sources further report that the capture of “El Jardinero,” a key CJNG leader, was facilitated by intelligence allegedly provided by O3 to Mexican authorities. The reporting suggests O3 may be attempting to consolidate his control of CJNG while eliminating or weakening internal rivals with whom he has longstanding tensions.

This raises a critical question: Would O3 be willing to provide intelligence on IAG in exchange for reducing pressure on his own leadership of CJNG?

Another possibility is that IAG could consider turning over Alfredito. He is reportedly viewed as an ineffective leader within Los Chapitos, and removing him could potentially buy the organization time while allowing it to rebuild O3’s confidence and preserve its relationship with CJNG.

This isn’t completely accurate. Previously, Sinaloa Cartel (specifically Chapitos) assassinated independent fentanyl producers and pushed a sophisticated propaganda campaign to say fentanyl production was prohibited.

In reality, Chapitos continued its production and pushed huge amounts of fentanyl to the US. It only started to drop once the Sinaloa Cartel Civil War started.
