WEST RAND POLICE ARREST TWO FOREIGN NATIONALS AND RECOVER COPPER CABLE WORTH R800 000

West Rand police have arrested two foreign nationals for possession of suspected stolen copper cable following an intelligence-driven operation conducted on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.

Police received information about two vehicles allegedly transporting copper cable from the North West Province towards Krugersdorp. The information was operationalised by West Rand Crime Intelligence in collaboration with the West Rand Flying Squad, West Rand District Crime Prevention Unit and private security companies.
The two vehicles were spotted and stopped on the R24 towards Krugersdorp. Upon searching the vehicles, police discovered a large quantity of copper cable loaded at the back of the bakkies. The recovered property is estimated to be worth approximately R800 000-00.

The two Pakistani nationals were arrested and are expected to appear before court soon.
Police have opened a case of possession of suspected stolen property, and investigations are ongoing.
