I can't think of a better time to stop giving BC's private schools *hundreds of millions* of public funding a year, and redirect that to BC's cash-strapped public school districts. #bcpoli#bced
School districts around BC are reporting out almost no #schoolexclusions to the @BCOmbudsperson.
How can that be? Well, if they don't call it a suspension, they don't have to record it.

Putting 2 students in a car who need support to self manage & navigate their relationship in a healthy way puts my kid at risk. Exclusion happens in so many subtle ways - glad the @BCOmbudsperson has highlighted this. #bced#bcpoli
On the heels of mtgs with all 3 parties at the Leg on Monday regarding the crisis in #bced, we're told today that the only way my daughter can go on a field trip for kids with support needs is to rideshare w/ the kid whohas been the main source of her distress for 2 yrs. #bcpoli
And I get it, with the staffing shortages, the school is trying to let all kids enjoy an amazing field trip opportunity, designed for students with support needs. This needs to be done in a safe, inclusive and trauma informed way.
My 8 year old gets it - kids don't outgrow disabilities. They may learn to navigate a world not designed for them with more skills/effort but the policy of prioritizing young kids over older kids is the disability olympics. "Premier Eby, please help my sister" #bced#bcpoli
Parents frustrated with what they say is a "crisis" in British Columbia's public education system took their message to the B.C. legislature on Monday.

It certainly is. Teacher and EA wellness is a huge issue. And the shortage means there’s unlikely that someone will replace you if you go down. #bced#cdned
@Dave_Eby How will districts like @Surrey_Schools meet the required capital contribution when they are facing a $16m budget shortfall? A new ministry to navigate, unprotected ed capital funds & no plan leave BC kids behind.
