People in Web3 Gaming are currently talking about the current news around @Immutable
The craziest part isn't the 29 roles cut from game development, or the ai part,
Nor the fud going round that they're most likely pivoting away from web3 gaming
It is the fact that after 2 days, they haven't released an official statement about it
No explanation, no press release, no damage control, nothing. Just speculations
If no one's gonna say it, I will. That's unprofessional and unethical of them
They have lots of believers and supporters, with a large community of gamers
Don't get me started on the Ambassadors. I am one and I'm confused af
Unless they have another socials asides their Discord and X page, this makes no sense
Anyways Athena and I would be talking about this on our X Spaces this Friday
I'm not joking when I say @VoxieTactis of the most confusing Games I've played
Now, their Titan Arena Tournament is currently live with a Prize Pool of 40,000 $VOXEL
That's amazing, but I played their game and its safe to say I don't understand anything
So I moved on to try their second Game, Voxie Survival which they announced last week
Now this one's straightforward. Its a Roguelite game where you survive waves of monsters
I played and FINISHED the Demo (proof in video) and I can now give a Feedback
Firstly,
the Graphics look better than this, but I had to go ultra low to get manageable performance
So performance/optimization wise, it needs work considering that it isn't a heavy game
Secondly,
I don't like weapon feature. They have four characters but I don't know how many weapons
Two characters have fixed weapons: a bow and an earthquake AOE (idk how this is a weapon)
While for the remaining two, one can choose a weapon while the other uses a randomized weapon
The melee weapon is impractical because it only attacks the direction the character faces
While some of the ranged weapons are simply weak. Let me not start with the AOE 'weapons'
Thirdly,
Attacking is auto-fire and auto-aim, no matter the weapon or character you select
While this is almost the norm in this kind of games, it begs the question why there's melee weapon
Fourthly,
The gameplay ain't bad, but I don't see any type of retention on my part for now
It kinda feels repetitive. Maybe this is because other chapters aren't unlocked yet
I actually enjoyed the Free-play mode where you just survive and get stronger or perish
Finally,
In the story mode, it had lots of loopholes and I'll try to mention those I remember:
- You could just stay at the corner of the map and farm peacefully
It turned into an idle mode for me and made me level up easily with speed too
- The clear condition of a map is to defeat the boss, but after that, you can stay back to farm
And in doing so, you'll enter the next stage way stronger than you should
- The bird monsters are pretty much useless because they dutifully avoid you
Yet they stay close and become free EXP. There are other useless monsters but can't remember
The team wants to showcase the Voxie Survival Demo in the next Steam fest
Building on @Immutable is cool, but I see they have plans to penetrate Web2 gaming
I wish them Godspeed and hope they succeed considering they're an indie game
Anyways, would you play this?
I’m not even kidding I have a HUGE GRIEVANCE with @The_Beacon_GG
Before I start yapping I wanna say this is my third year playing The Beacon
The first time, I didn’t even know it was a Web3 Game (it was crazy then)
And I still stan this anywhere: I prefer the old gameplay to this current one
Because one thing this current Beacon is severely lacking is boss mode
Those days it was total mayhem. The bosses were demon reincarnations
There was no fight or flight, it’s either you fight or perish like a Bot
Idk why they removed it but w/e. This current play style is cool anyways
So back to my grievance. There are quite a lot of them so stay with me...
FIRSTLY, the bow is overpowered compared to the sword and shield
I mean, I know the bow has lower max HP than sword when you start a run
However, talking about raw performance, it outshines the sword so bad
SECONDLY, what y’all ain’t talking about is the lack of healing items in a run
Like wym I can break boxes but it’s empty? And the monsters drop nothing?
That’s simply a waste of potential of this game imho. Items are important
THIRDLY, I know this is a Rouguelite game, but some rooms are preposterous
I mean, why would i instantly enter a place filled TO THE BRIM with traps?
And this is just the beginning of the run? And still added ranged enemies?
FOURTHLY, in some runs & when I have explosion, performance tanks badly
I experienced bad FPS drops in some matches and yes I used Epic Games
FINALLY, there are other ‘overlooked’ stuff littered all over The Beacon game
Like the projectile of enemies and umbra shards almost have same color shade
So it’s sometimes confusing battling lots of enemies including ranged ones
And not able to tell the difference between an umbra shard and a projectile
And worse is that ranged traps have exactly the same color shade as umbra
Another thing is when you’re trying to choose items like bombs and red heart
There is no description as to what they are or how they work so I just chose heart
The one time I chose the green leaf, I had zero idea how and when to use it
All in all, I still like The Beacon game. I just wish they can fix these little issues
But I’ll keep playing and grinding Umbra. And waste it all in the gamble room 😂
And oh, enjoy my gameplay video edit!
Do we even need Video Creators in this Space?
How can you command attention with visual motion storytelling?
What’s the secret behind writing a good script or editing a good piece?
Pilot and @Aathena_eth is bringing to your screens ANOTHER BANGER Episode!
This time, we’ll be talking about:
“Is Video Creation in Web3 a unique Culture or a way to farm Attention?”
And as you can SEE, we brought in top-tier Visual Storytellers,
So you won’t be doing yourself a favor if you don’t set a Reminder 👇
