@wtgowers Some 2 cents -- I believe the very first result was by ChatGPT 5.5 Pro + human prompts, but it was ugly and worked only over C. It was then multiple human iterations that introduced the idea of using units (vs prime splitting) and made the proof work over R. /Dima Zhelezov

I believe slav folks confuse it a lot learning English

A remarkable paper appeared on arXiv tonight by Thomas Bloom, Will Sawin, Carl Schildkraut and Dmitrii Zhelezov. In this paper, they prove that there exists c>0 and arbitrarily large finite sets A of real numbers such that max(|A+A|,|AA|)≤|A|^{2-c}. This disproves the well-known sum-product conjecture over the real numbers. The sum-product conjecture considers the two most basic operations: addition and multiplication. A+A is the set of all pairwise sums of two elements in A while AA is the set of all pairwise products of two elements in A. (1/5)

A dev from our community chat was scraping a wallet UI with Hermes. Mid-task, DeepSeek reasoned its way out of it:

"I can use SQD Portal's Hyperliquid fills data directly — much more complete than scraping a UI with infinite scroll."

No prompt engineering. The model just chose the better and faster path.

This is the loop we wanted: Agents pick SQD because it's faster → devs see agents picking SQD → devs ship faster → more agents pick SQD
