One of our biggest challenges as Black people is that we often underestimate the value of our own businesses while placing greater trust in products and services from others.

Too often, township and village entrepreneurs have to work twice as hard to earn support from their own communities because there is a perception that local means inferior. Yet many of these businesses offer excellent products, create jobs, and keep money circulating within our communities.

Supporting local businesses does not mean lowering standards. It means giving capable entrepreneurs a fair opportunity to compete, grow, and build wealth where it is needed most.

If we want stronger townships, thriving villages, and sustainable economic growth, we must become intentional about supporting quality businesses owned by people from our own communities.
