The biggest export South Africa never authorised may be its culture.
Our audit of major AI training datasets identified dozens of South African artists appearing across publicly documented training corpora used to develop the next generation of AI music systems.
As artists, rights holders, and policymakers begin to examine the scale of this practice, it may prove to be one of the most significant data laundering controversies the global music industry has ever faced.
Developers can now build on Yoco with the new Yoco Developer Hub 👨💻
Yoco has opened its infrastructure to developers, giving them access to APIs, documentation, and an MCP server to build custom applications, integrations, and workflows on top of the platform.
This helps developers:
• Build commerce and payment solutions without starting from scratch.
• Use AI tools to create integrations and applications faster.
• Access the same infrastructure powering over 200,000 South African businesses. #YocoNext
One of our biggest challenges as Black people is that we often underestimate the value of our own businesses while placing greater trust in products and services from others.
Too often, township and village entrepreneurs have to work twice as hard to earn support from their own communities because there is a perception that local means inferior. Yet many of these businesses offer excellent products, create jobs, and keep money circulating within our communities.
Supporting local businesses does not mean lowering standards. It means giving capable entrepreneurs a fair opportunity to compete, grow, and build wealth where it is needed most.
If we want stronger townships, thriving villages, and sustainable economic growth, we must become intentional about supporting quality businesses owned by people from our own communities.
Everyone who succeeds has one thing in common, they build a culture of execution. Their focus isn’t on what they wish would get done, it’s on completing the tasks in front of them.
Major cheat code for life: Be fully where your feet are. When you're at work, work. When you're with family, be with family. When you're resting, rest. Most people are physically present and mentally everywhere else.
One of my favourite things I've ever read is about a woman who said that whenever she had a negative thought about herself, she would shout "GUARDS!" and imagine old knights entering and carrying the thought away.

I saw a quote that said "to procrastinate is to willingly endure the discomfort of anticipation, rather than the discomfort of action. Both are burdens, but only one leads to progress" and if that didn't light a fire in me.
At the end of the day, the most important thing is to be a genuinely good person. No amount of money, fancy titles, or social status can ever cover up your real character.
