I have a question I’d like to ask a whole bunch of elected officials in my own party right now.
Why are you crying uncle? Why are you rolling over? Why are you sitting down and folding your arms when you should be standing up and fighting?
Do you not understand what we are facing? Did you miss the memo on what’s at stake? When your kids are behind in a baseball or soccer game, do you tell them to pack it in? To look at the score and realize it can’t change, even though they alone have the power to change it?
Do you tell them to quit?
That the championship isn’t worth digging in and doing the work because it’s easier just to accept the loss and walk away?
To accept the numbers on the board as the outcome before the game has even ended?
Do you spend more time talking about how they’ll lose the game than you do firing them up to win?
Maybe you do, but the rest of us don’t. We don’t have that kind of luxury. We’re too busy worrying that our daughters might be jailed for miscarrying, that our sons will be handed guns and rewarded for cruelty, and that every freedom we have ever known will be taken from us, forever.
For us, quitting isn’t an option.
We know there’s a lot more game left to play.
And since we are the only ones with the power to determine the final score, we know that we have to keep going, that we have to push harder and play tougher.
This is the battle of our lifetimes.
We aren’t going to simply give up because we don’t Iike the score on the board right now.

So, my question is — why are you?
