The World Cup begins tomorrow, and many will watch the matches. Soccer reminds us of something we must not forget: life is not a race to show off on our own, but a path we learn to walk together. Anyone who does not know how to pass the ball, even if they have talent, has not yet understood the game. Anyone who does not know how to live with and for others has not yet understood life. #ApostolicJourney
The decline of the Boston Red Sox began with the departure of @DonOrsillo, became critical when @mookiebetts was traded, and is now complete with the dishonorable firing of @ac13alex. Why dismantle a once-great institution just to sell it for parts?
Boston, we will miss you.
Gracias for making us part of you. #RedSoxNation, you are the ❤️ of that team, keep believing, you really care and that’s what pushes everyone in the @RedSox to give it all day in and day out.
With respect and love

@bryan_caplan I’m not sure treating belief as mere utility maximization is helpful here. Belief formation is largely non-volitional, layered within cognitive structures. Religious belief is better understood as a natural outgrowth of multi-polar human cognition and social life together.
@JonahDispatch Fantastic episode. I particularly loved how little academic jargon he used while he spoke of profoundly human instincts. I would love to hear more about philosophers who are ‘useful villains.’ And, I wondered if he labored under a bit of caricatured picture of Christian theology.
@ChrisCillizza Very cool. I will be praying for you. The best advice I got when I started a similar journey is to pray earnestly 'God reveal yourself to me' each day as you open the pages of scripture.
@jpodhoretz What a truly remarkable man. I fondly remember discovering Commentary magazine in my college library and devouring dozens of back issues. May his memory be a blessing.
We have appended an Editors' Note to a story about Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawaq, a child in Gaza who was diagnosed with severe malnutrition. After publication, The Times learned that he also had pre-existing health problems. Read more below.
@drantbradley This is true. Also, I’m not sure the liberalism that Machen was concerned about resembles the emerging theologies in the mainline today. 20th century theological liberalism is a relic.
