I hacked my bedroom lights to talk to Google Fit. If I haven’t moved in 2 hours, it flashes angry red until I get up. 🚨
The bulb’s app didn’t allow custom integrations, so I dug into it and found it listens for UDP packets with raw JSON RGB commands.
So i wrote a tiny script, If I don’t move for 2 hours, it sends raw RGB commands over UDP to the bulb’s IP to make it glow angry red. Now my room literally tells me when to get up.
If you’re new to the complexities of color accessibility standards — like I was at the start of this project — here’s a distilled cheat sheet that can help you make the most of our new tool in @figma. Let us know if you have questions, and happy contrasting!
Color contrast accessibility tools are now available in the @figma color picker! Grateful for the chance to design this, and I hope it helps contribute to more design in the world being made more inclusive. Let us know what you think!
