#KingdomNL hosted a side event at the Mission with @Peaceforce@CivCenter and @PAXforpeace on community-led protection in an era of constraints, austerity and impunity.
#KingdomNL Perm. Rep. highlighted institutionalizing civilians and local partners.
With 90 other signatories #KingdomNL joined the stakeout organized by the initiators of the Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law.

With @ipinst, #KingdomNL and the UN Department of Peace Operations organized an ambassadorial roundtable on the future of Action for Peacekeeping+.
Member States engaged with USG @Lacroix_UN on making UN peacekeeping more effective, impactful, integrated and cost‑effective.
#KingdomNL co‑hosted a policy forum with @ipinst on the role of the Peacebuilding Fund in UN peace operations.
We looked at how the UN PBF can provide catalytic, timely and risk‑tolerant support in peace operation settings and mission transitions, and launched IPI’s new report.
I unequivocally condemn the massive strikes by Israel across Lebanon on 8 April that resulted in hundreds of civilians being killed & injured, including children.
With the announcement of the ceasefire between Iran & the USA, the ongoing military activity in Lebanon poses a grave risk to the ceasefire & the efforts toward a lasting & comprehensive peace in the region.
Hostilities must stop immediately.
International law must be respected.
Civilians & civilian objects must be protected at all times. Attacks against them are unacceptable.
There is no military solution to the conflict.

I condemn today’s military escalation in the Middle East. The use of force by the United States & Israel against Iran, and the subsequent retaliation by Iran across the region, undermine international peace & security.
All Member States must respect their obligations under international law, including the Charter of the @UN. The Charter clearly prohibits “the threat of the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.”
I call for an immediate cessation of hostilities & de-escalation. Failing to do so risks a wider regional conflict with grave consequences for civilians & regional stability. I strongly encourage all parties to return immediately to the negotiating table.
I reiterate that there is no viable alternative to the peaceful settlement of international disputes, in full accordance with international law, including the UN Charter. The Charter provides the foundation for the maintenance of international peace and security.
At the @AfricanUnionUN@EUatUN Ambassadors' meeting, Ambassador @BTahzibLie emphasized:
🔹 the importance of follow-up to the EU-AU Summit and Joint Declaration, including a Senior Officials Meeting;
🔹 peacekeeping and peacebuilding as opportunities for cooperation in New York.
