ICGLR Observes Zambia’s 2026 Elections 🇿🇲

On Election Day, the ICGLR Election Observation Mission is on the ground observing voting at polling stations, including Takanado Primary School and Lusaka Golf Club.

Our observers are also deployed across Lusaka, Central and Southern Provinces, monitoring the voting process and engaging with stakeholders.

The Mission continues to observe the elections independently, impartially and objectively, in accordance with Zambia’s electoral framework.

From Preparation to Recommendations: Inside Election Observation
1️⃣ Before Elections
🗳️ What does an Election Observation Mission do before Election Day?
Before voting begins, ICGLR observers meet electoral authorities, political parties, civil society and other stakeholders to better understand the electoral environment.
They also review the legal framework and preparations to help ensure a transparent and credible process.

2️⃣ Campaign Assessment
📣 Election observation starts long before ballots are cast.
ICGLR observers assess the campaign environment by observing campaign activities, monitoring media access and evaluating whether political actors can campaign freely, fairly and peacefully.
Independent observation helps build confidence in the electoral process.
