Soriano was directly responsible for two NL Central titles. Well worth the $136 million.
Also, I yearn for the days when big time free agents signed in mid November #Cubs
16 years ago today, the Chicago Cubs signed outfielder Alfonso Soriano to a then-team-record eight-year, $136 million contract. (And I say it was not bad.)
Lt General Simon Buckner Jr oversaw the Aleutian Islands campaign which removed the Japanese from US soil during WW2. He later held command during the Battle of Okinawa and was killed by artillery on June 18, 1945 becoming the highest ranked US officer killed in WW2.
Luke Getsy had a really horrible day today. That's my takeaway. He's had some good games but he's had some really headstratching games too. Outside of the OL, he deserves most of the blame today.
A healthy Gale Sayers might have been the greatest RB of alltime. Yeah I said it.
1966 stats: 1231 yds rush, 447 yds receiving, 762 return yards, 12 total TD.

Went to this game last night. Garza was the best player on the court and put up those stats in just 32 mins. G League games are a lot of fun. Go check one out!

Luka Garza was unstoppable for the @iawolves tonight! 💪 He posted 30 PTS, 8 REB and 6 AST leading the Wolves to a win at home!!
Check out his highlights from the game! ⬇️
The highest win percentage in major league history is .798 by the 1880 Chicago White Stockings (67-17-2), albeit in an 86 game season. George Gore led the White Stockings (current Cubs) w a .360 BA and 2 HR, while Larry Corcoran had a 43-14 record w a 1.94 ERA. #Cubs
@CubsPSPlus@DavidEickholt One overlooked thing that ppl aren't talking about is that Iowa had to play MICH and OSU. Purdue and Minnesota played neither.
The Battle of the St Lawrence was a WW2 naval action fought in the Gulf of St Lawrence between Canada and Germany. From 1942-44, German U-Boats sank 27 Canadian ships w over 300 Canadians killed. These were the 1st inland water casualties in Canada since The War of 1812.
While I believe this, until the Cubs actually extend a player they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt. I'll go one step further and say it will be a failure to not extend Nico and Happ this offseason.
Hung out with @OutOfTheVines to talk Cubs prospects. Hit a variety of topics, including how fans can read prospects. At the end, I asked him for some “best of” in the system. Enjoy the episode and check out his new pod Cubs on Deck with @cubprospects

Here's the thing w the Bulls - AK chose to build a team thru FA/trade and sacrifice 1st round picks. If you choose to do that then you can't sit out this past offseason like they did. Needed to go above the tax and acquire a star (probable that JR said no). This team is a mess.
The Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942 was the 1st instance in WW2 where a Japanese invasion was repulsed and did not achieve its objective. The US stopped an invasion of Port Moseby, protecting Australia. It was also the 1st carrier v carrier battle in naval history.
Marquez was a top 50 prospect not long ago. Can't just wait on prospects to develop. Have to make moves in FA (Not to mention injuries to Canario and Davis).
