@TheLatamGuy why put in work for something that is so temporal? It happens a lot with friendships among locals and expat immigrant communities - if you know they're not there long, why nourish the friendship?
@paulpowlesland Also the two largest (and best) swimming ponds in HH are sexually segregated, which is ridiculous Victorian-era bullshit. The mixed is gross and tiny; there's cruising going on in the others; and if you're in a mixed group you have to go to separate swimming ponds. Nonsense.
@SpencerKlavan it's the first stumble that does it - shut's the crowd right the fuck up and everyone watching just waiting for that sweet sweet shutdown
@Jo_Marney@Number10cat My point is only related to the rental issue - mistreatment of dogs, shut at home all day, can happen whether you rent or not, and are both unacceptable.
Noise nuisance etc applies whether you rent or own (usually). I think there are ways to indemnify against 'pet damage'.
@TriciaHPH@nico_rjinders@CasinoCapital This is a completely different point and has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion.
You can have an opinion but you can't police everything.
@TriciaHPH@CasinoCapital I'd wager rentals have been damaged worse by humans than animals.
Laminate floors, when cheap, don't last.
Every landlord should expect wear & tear after a year or two, mostly its mgt companies who twist the knife.
Also what is deposit for... a shitty laminate and cabinet door?
@Jo_Marney@Number10cat I fully agree - but we can't screen for everything. If dog is loud ? Already covered under nuisance/quite enjoyment/noise complaints clauses. If dog causes damage? Covered under 'responsibility to make good' clause.
@Jo_Marney@Number10cat Agreed, but - should the solution be you don't have to declare?
And every rental contract can then, as standard, have a clause that says 'if you have a pet you need to make good any adverse conditions made by said pet after vacating', or something.
