Twenty years ago we invaded Iraq. The war killed many innocent Iraqis and Americans. It destroyed the oldest Christian populations in the world. It cost over $1 trillion, and turned Iraq into a satellite of Iran. It was an unforced disaster, and I pray that we learn its lessons.
In an era of great power rivalry, Canada is choosing to be principled and pragmatic. To name reality, to act together, and to build what we claim to believe in.
Crimes against humanity are happening every day in Gaza, in plain view. Nothing justifies such cruelty. Those responsible are morally bankrupt, and they benefit from impunity. This is not the world we want to live in.
