Love Castle, but he is too good to be MIP. Won rookie of the year his rookie season, should have been an All Star, and was very close to making an All Defense team this past season. Also was the main ball handler for a champion contending team and was fourth in scoring for the whole playoffs. Dylan is too good too. I fear people have lost the plot for what the MIP is.

@Ezisdu Castle and Wemby are like top 5 in the leauge in assistee to scorer. They also are a very scary defensive duo. They obviously play very well together. People downplaying Castle's talent/role is getting boring.

I guess I just see something different than you and that's ok. Dude has the workload and responsibilities similar to many all time greats on a championship contendeding team in his second year in the leauge. Not putting him in all time great convos, obviously. Just saying people severely underestimate his talent. Top 10 in assists, led in assists in playoffs and 4th in scoring, has more triple doubles than Wemby, and is an insane 2 way guard. You can be critical, but i'm not sure how you can be pessimistic.

He's a great passer and early in his career. Many top players struggled with turnovers early and still do. His usage rate is also putting him at a disadvantage. He has to guard the best player every game, successfully, and then go down and run the offense. The amount of responsibilities they gave that kid last season was crazy for any player but especially for a 21 year old... and we made it to the finals. I really don't think people realize how good he is. Not saying he shouldn't work on turnovers... but that has a lot to do with coaching too.

I'm not talking about the finals. I'm talking about the whole season... the season that got us to the finals. Spurs definitely had issues in the finals. That's obvious, but you're origional post said the Spurs don't have someone to lob to Wemby and that's just crazy. Castle is already a top 5 lob passer. He does it multiple times per game. The Spurs needed a power forward. That's what would have helped.

@GMZeroOG Did you watch a single spurs game? Genuinely. Wemby and Castle are like 3rd or 4th in the leauge with assists/scorer duos with Castle also being one of the most efficient lob passers in the league. I am so confused.

Castle has a 2.31 assist to turnover ratio while averaging 7.4 asissts per game. That is a good ratio especially with his passing upside. I will take the growing pains of a 21 old learning when he shows signs of being a great passer. He also shot 38% from 3 for the last 40 games of the season and 44% the first 2 rounds of the playoffs. He's also a beast defensivly and has an insane workload. He can work on his fouling and turnovers, sure, but I feel like he's super underrated because is usage and workload at such a young age skews his analytics.

"Incapable of being the primary ball handler" but was for the whole season that the Spurs had a 62-20 record and made it all the way to the finals. Look, I'm not an idiot. I know there are things Castle needs to improve on. I would hope so since he's only 21. But, people act like he isn't a huge part of this teams success. What I was trying to say previously, is I believe a lot of his "issues" come from his high usage and workload. Dude does a lot on a team that almost won a championship. People need to chill out.

Game 5 was rough for him, but yes, he was our second best player throughout the whole run. Fourth in scoring behind Brunson, Wemby, and Shai and first in assists all while having the hardest workload of guarding the best player every game and then running offense. Harper had a better series against the Knicks besides the only game we won, which was Castle's best game. Can we please stop downplaying Castle's contributions, please?

There's no use in arguing with him. He's putting such high expectations on Castle while overlooking glaring problems others on his list pose. The fact of the matter is... is Castle at 21 has the highest workload in the leauge and is playing extremely high level two way basketball on a championship contending team. He can break records, be a triple double threat almost every game, successfully guard MVP's every night while still producing efficient offense and people will still say he's not a top player. 🙄
