The concept of leveraging digital tokens as virtual game assets on a decentralized network of players is one of the tenets of Web3. While termed in '14, many saw it as a "future" concept for crypto gaming.

Yesterday was the 10-year anniversary of the 1st @DogepartyRunner game. This marked the first instance of cryptographic tokens being used in online gameplay.

The 1st game consisted of 4 players trying to solve 5 individualized puzzles that could only be unlocked by buying & sending a RUNNER token to the game address.

Once the correct answer was submitted via website form, RUNNER tokens would be returned to the winners, which they could use to advance to the next puzzle.

The game had one winner, who correctly solved all 5 puzzles & won the grand prize of an ASIC miner. All game participants received extra tokens "for playing and helping sort the gameplay out."

According to @LiteBitCo,

"We created this game to be an exciting way to buy, trade and leverage Dogeparty tokens and earn a
chance to win exciting prizes.

The game play is based on a good, old fashioned cyberhunt. Players will have the chance to win brand-new electronics, miners, gift cards and much more."

The game was relaunched in 2022 and a redevelopment appears to be in the works.

The first game of Dogeparty Runner was truly a formative moment in expanding blockchain utility; a functional prototype for things to come well beyond its time.
