It's been one year since I dug into @midjourney's infringement and plagiarism, resulting in my getting banned 3 times and forcing them to frantically update their ToS without notifying their customers. They're currently in discovery for the class action lawsuit against them 😘
A bipartisan special parliamentary inquiry in Australia today said big tech is “pillaging culture, data and creativity” to train AI, and must license and pay for training data.
This is how all governments should respond to this technology.

The UK government wants to legalise training AI on people's creative work without a licence. They propose letting creators 'opt out' - but opt-outs are rarely taken up, as most people don't realise they have the option. AI companies should be required to get actual, opt-*in* consent if they want to train models on people's life's work - models that will compete with those people.
The govt's proposal would be an upending of copyright law that would have terrible consequences for the UK's creative industries. @stokel is spot on in the Guardian today. Read the full article here: https://t.co/GOpDyPIZB8
This would be an insane policy: arts, book publishing and scholarship are massive strengths of the UK. To allow (mostly California-based...) AI enterprises to 'scrape' their work is not just immoral and philistine, but an act of monumental economic self-harm.
@ednewtonrex The government needs to be reminded that other peoples’ intellectual property belongs to them, not the government. It’s not the government’s to give away.
@ednewtonrex Ex-Google boss is pushing for this.
Can't wait to see more brain drain out of the country and more people forced to go on benefits because of genAI.
Recipe for disaster.
I wasn't mean enough yesterday so let me correct that:
If you're using AI to "create", you're a lazy, pathetic piece of shit.
Art IS work. Saying that's UNFAIR (?!) is like me saying it's unfair I can't be a pro athlete with no training, no effort, and no drive to change that
Playing Ranger with your pet companion out is hilarious. Mol gets distracted from making a deal with Raphael & a tiefling kid follows me outside Last Light to become Shadow Cursed because he wants to comment on my pet bird's pretty feathers 🤣
You can’t copyright something you didn’t create.
It took him hundreds of prompt attempts to get the image he wanted.. and yet his lawyer claimed he had a “very clear image of what he wanted”. If it was so clear why didn’t he create it himself? Oh wait, he can’t actually create, because he’s not an artist.
All it takes to be an artist is to actually pick up a pencil.
Artist is Suing Copyright Office For Refusing to Register His AI Image https://t.co/A4RqccpsIq
2/3 Not only do we proceed on our copyright claims, this order also means companies who utilize SD models for and/or LAION like datasets could now be liable for copyright infringement violations, amongst other violations.
The whole thing is worth a read. I love these parts!
@NecroKuma3@EZE3D Been saying this from the beginning!
If *you* don't care enough about a product to actually *make it yourself*... why should I? And the legal implications??
Very glad to hear this news, good riddance to bad rubbish genAI crap.
My Star Wars Environment - The Rusty Speeder - is now on Artstation!

Contains breakdowns, screenshots, renders and videos!
This was such a challenging project, it was fun, stressful and I learned a lot with this one. Thank you for all the support!
Final lighting pass in Unreal Engine 5.
I need to make some panning cameras for the video next before setting up the presentation shots.
So happy to be almost at the end of the road with this project. Its been long, I've learned a lot but I'm ready to put it to bed soon :).
