The UK government wants to legalise training AI on people's creative work without a licence. They propose letting creators 'opt out' - but opt-outs are rarely taken up, as most people don't realise they have the option. AI companies should be required to get actual, opt-*in* consent if they want to train models on people's life's work - models that will compete with those people.

You can’t copyright something you didn’t create.

It took him hundreds of prompt attempts to get the image he wanted.. and yet his lawyer claimed he had a “very clear image of what he wanted”. If it was so clear why didn’t he create it himself? Oh wait, he can’t actually create, because he’s not an artist.

All it takes to be an artist is to actually pick up a pencil.

2/3 Not only do we proceed on our copyright claims, this order also means companies who utilize SD models for and/or LAION like datasets could now be liable for copyright infringement violations, amongst other violations.
