Caregiving rarely looks the same twice. For LGBTQ+ military and veteran caregivers, it can mean navigating a service member’s recovery while also navigating whether their family is fully seen or understood by the systems meant to support them.
Our 2024 RAND Survey, America’s Military and Veteran Caregivers: Hidden Heroes Emerging from the Shadows, shows that LGBTQ+ caregivers are likely among the least visible and least served in this community. That reality matters—and it shapes the work still ahead.
