🐬 #DYK?
Atlantic spotted dolphins can be recognized as individuals for years—just by nature’s details ✨
🔹 Unique spot patterns
🔹 Distinct dorsal fins
🔹 One-of-a-kind flukes

These natural markers help WDP scientists track over years—no tags needed.

Happy Saturday!

Second only to the bond between mother and calf, males also form life-long bonds, usually as a pair but sometimes as a trio, as seen here.

🎉 ANOTHER North Atlantic right whale mom and calf pair has been spotted!

“Cascade” and her newborn are two of around 380 remaining North Atlantic right whales.

With so few left, each one of these whales are worth celebrating – and protecting 👉 https://t.co/rHZL5K21CU

There are so many ways to support the research and conservation nonprofits you care about—memberships, donations, store purchases, and sharing their stories.

For the Wild Dolphin Project, that support directly sustains long-term dolphin research and education.

Orcas are all about working smarter, not harder, as they coordinate in their pods to corral and stun their prey.

🎄 Day 8 of the 12 Days of Saving Dolphins

Keep beaches clean. Pick up trash—even what isn’t yours. Fishing line and plastic are silent killers in dolphin habitats.

🐬 12 Days of Helping Dolphins — Day 7

Reduce boat impacts.

Slow down in dolphin areas, keep a safe distance, and never chase or surround them. If dolphins approach, put engines in neutral and let them pass.

Mindful boating keeps dolphins safe. 🌊💙

🐬 12 Days of Saving Dolphins — Day 6

Seeing dolphins in the wild is magical—but how we do it matters.

The Marine Mammal Protection Act protects dolphins from harm and disturbance. Close boats & swimmers cause stress and waste energy.

Let dolphins be wild. 💙

Killer whales and dolphins… a dynamic duo? 👀

New research has found that Pacific white-sided dolphins & northern resident killer whales are working together to hunt salmon in British Columbia — the first time this behavior has ever been documented between the two species. https://t.co/7913T0JrGU
